Comedian and voice actor Gilbert Gottfried, known for his roles as the loudmouth parrot Iago in Disney’s Aladdin, and the Aflack duck…has passed at 67. Gottfried’s family announced his passing Tuesday afternoon, while his publicist revealed the comedian had been battling muscular dystrophy. Gottfried, known for his shrill voice, had a brief, 12-episode stint on Season 6 of SNL in 1980 and also starred in Beverly Hills Cop II. Gottfried was also the voice of the Aflac Insurance duck before losing the gig in 2011 after his series of offensive tweets regarding that same year’s tsunami in Japan. Gottfried later apologized, saying “I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families.” Gottfried’s family as asked that we “please keep laughing as loud as possible” to honor him.
Is BEN AFFLECK a romantic? JENNIFER LOPEZ revealed in her latest “On the JLo” newsletter that he proposed to her while she was relaxing in a bubble bath . . . which means she was naked. Quote, “Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed. I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘is that a yes?’ I said ‘YES of course that’s a YES’ . . . It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined.” Jennifer’s engagement ring is a green diamond. She said green is her lucky color, and now it always will be. And she considers Ben and herself to be two lucky people to have a second chance at true love.
Sometimes weird, embarrassing, or shocking things happen on live TV. And when those things happen to celebrities, that just kicks them up a notch or two. Buzzfeed put together a list of 19 of those things . . . and obviously, the WILL SMITH Oscar slap made the list. Here are some other highlights . . . (LINK)
- When Madonna fell at the 2015 Brit Awards.
- When Nicki Minaj had a wardrobe malfunction at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and had to hold her dress together with her hand.
- When Doja Cat had to run from the bathroom to the stage to accept an award at this year’s Grammys.
- When Jennifer Lawrence tripped up the stairs on her way to accept her 2013 Oscar for Best Actress.
- When Whoopi Goldberg farted on “The View” in 2011.
- When KRISTEN STEWART dropped an F-bomb on “Saturday Night Live” in 2017.
JOHNNY DEPP’s defamation lawsuit against AMBER HEARD kicked off with opening statements yesterday . . . and Amber’s attorney leveled a new accusation against Johnny. Johnny is suing Amber over an op-ed she wrote called “Amber Heard: I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” In the article, Amber says she was, quote, “harassed and sexually assaulted by the time I was of college age.” But she never says she was sexually assaulted by Johnny . . . and she doesn’t even mention him by name at all in the piece. During his opening statement yesterday, Amber’s lawyer said she didn’t write the headline, and wasn’t given a chance to approve it. But then he said Johnny DID sexually assault her, after she confronted him about his drinking when they were in Australia in 2015. Pretty powerful statement here
MARK WAHLBERG kept his prop penis from when he played a well-endowed adult film star in “Boogie Nights”. Mark thinks one of his daughters has seen the movie (probably the oldest one), but thanks God that she has spared him from having a conversation about it.
Spirit Halloween has around 1,400 of its prop and costume shops around the country every year but now the shop will take up space on the big screen. Back To The Future star Christopher Lloyd, along with actress Rachel Leigh Cook, will star in the film Spirit Halloween. The family-friendly film will focus “on three middle-school friends who dare one another to spend Halloween night locked inside a Spirit Halloween store” that’s “haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters.” Spirit Halloween will premiere this October.

Scarlett Johansson revealed the craziest rumor she has heard that completely shocked her. Scarlett said, “There was a rumor that went around for a very long time that said that I had sex in an elevator. That was a story that followed me for a long time. But I always thought that was outrageous.” Johansson added, “I was always thinking to myself, ‘That would be tough. It’s a very short period, the logistics of that seem so unappealing to me.’
Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil have started a new band called 3rd Secret. The band also features guitarist Bubba Dupree and vocalists Jillian Raye and Jennifer Johnson. 3rd Secret not only announced their formation on Monday but dropped a self-titled debut album, too! The band’s track, “I Choose Me” in now on YouTube. Novoselic hinted back in February that he was working on a new project, tweeting, then deleting “I’m really busy trying to finish a record. In the middle of some hangups – looking for a mid-March release. But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anybody!”
Yesterday, the rock world was mourning the breakup of influential ’70s punk band MAX CREEPS. Slash, Duff McKagan, Billie Joe Armstrong, Henry Rollins, Marky Ramone, and Sum 41 were among the stars paying tribute to Max Creeps, and reminiscing about what the band meant to them. If you’ve never heard of Max Creeps, you’re not alone. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that they ever existed. There’s a Facebook page, but it looks like somebody just set it up within the last year. There’s also a listing for an album on Amazon, but it’s supposedly available only on vinyl or CASSETTE. There’s even a Reddit thread of people trying to figure out the identity of Max Creeps . . . if they exist at all. Some people think it might be a side project . . . possibly of Billie Joe or one of the other guys who posted a tribute to them. It would be cool if it IS someone’s secret band, and they got all these other guys to help them pull it off.
Ever had surgery and RIGHT before you pass out, you hear music go on? Well, next time, you’d better hope it’s rock and roll. Research done in Germany revealed that playing both soft and hard rock music can improve surgical performance. So I ask…why song was playing when the docs finish up quicker….THE BEATLES or ACDC? For example, when THE BEATLES’ “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be” played, doctors stitched up wounds 50% faster. Or when AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” and “T.N.T.” played, the time it took to make a precise cut went from 236 seconds to 139 seconds. A researcher said, quote, “For hard rock music, the positive effect was especially noticeable when the music was played in high volume. It is possible that music with high rhythmicity could provide a tempo to keep up the speed of the performance and thus enhance task performance.” This shouldn’t be TOO surprising, considering experts claim that popular rock music eases stress, relaxes muscles, combats anxiety, and even lowers blood pressure.

NFL quarterback CAM NEWTON had some strong opinions about women, and they’re not exactly going over well.
On a recent podcast, he said, quote, “A woman for me is handling your own, but knowing how to cater to a man’s needs. I think a lot of times, when you get that aesthetic of like, ‘I’m a boss [B-word], I’m a this, I’m a that,’ . . . no, baby . . . you can’t cook . . .
“You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to allow a man to lead.”
Obviously, Cam is getting dragged for being sexist and misogynistic.
This isn’t the first time he’s received backlash over comments about women. In 2017, he laughed at a female reporter’s question which resulted in him losing a sponsorship with Oikos yogurt.

The easy narrative is that Albert Pujols had his first three-hit game and first homer as a Cardinal since September 2011. But there was a lot more going on last night at Busch in the Cardinals’ 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals in front of a paid crowd of 40,398. Nolan Arenado, just named Player of the Week for his exploits during the first few days of the season, got a jump on Week 2 with a two-run homer. Arenado’s third homer of the season was his sixth extra-base hit out of seven over his first four games. And he has driven in at least two runs in each of those games. The Cardinals thus scored in the first inning of their first four games for the first time since at least 1901.
But, after Pujols had followed Arenado’s homer with No. 680 of his career on his first hit of the season, the Royals tied the score only to have Cardinals backup catcher Andrew Knizner smash one into the left field seats. That three-run homer broke a tie and ultimately made a winner of Jordan Hicks, who was making his first appearance in the majors since last May 1 (LINK)

There was 5:43 to go in the second period with Boston up 2-1 when Frederic, a St. Louisan playing his first game against his hometown team, after a whistle mind you, went after Tarasenko and laid a hit on him. Tarasenko ended up getting the better of the hit, holding his ground and knocking Frederic to the ice but the Blues got a power play, the tying goal and then added two more. The win was a season-high sixth in a row for the Blues. They’re 8-0-1 in their past nine overall and 5-1-1 in their past seven road games. Tarasenko scored twice to run his season total to 28 goals and Torey Krug, returning to the lineup, to Boston and playing on his 31st birthday, had a goal and an assist. The win kept the Blues even on points with the Minnesota Wild in the race for second in the Central Division, though the Wild have one more game to play than the Blues. Ville Husso made 39 saves and won for the seventh time in eight starts (LINK)
New information has surfaced regarding Tom Brady‘s unretirement. A recent article said that Brady initially did want to retire, but had much bigger plans in mind.
Brady was slated to become a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins (LINK) and was working on a deal to join the team’s front office. Brady’s role was said to be similar to Derek Jeter’s role with the Miami Marlins.
However, the grand plans were placed on a halt when Brian Flores filed a lawsuit the day Brady announced his retirement. The lawsuit called out NFL teams, the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos (LINK), and the Dolphins for “racism in hiring.” At the time, the Dolphins were planning on hiring Sean Payton as head coach which would have led to more scrutiny if the organization announced Brady and Payton. Payton shares the same manager as Brady and recently stepped down as the Saints’ head coach.
Since the plan fell through, Brady returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to free agency. Reports indicated that his return saw Bruce Arians take a backseat as he announced he would no longer be the team’s head coach (LINK)
