Unfortunately it is official – Tony Down – Wally from Leave it to Beaver has passed away. All the confusion is over as his son posted on social media yesterday: “Although this is a very sad day, I have comfort and peace that he is in a better place. He was the best Dad anyone could ask for. He was my coach, my mentor, my voice of reason, my best friend, my best man in my wedding, and my hero.” Tony Down was 77 years old.
When people find themselves at the site where a famous movie or TV show was filmed, they often want a photo op mimicking something they saw on the show. So it’s not surprising that a couple was spotted HAVING SEX at one of the locations from “Game of Thrones”. It happened at “King’s Landing” . . . which is actually in the Old Town area of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The woman bent over, the man did his thing, and someone happened to be nearby to FILM it. It’s fitting that they were doing it near the spot where Lena Headey’s character Cersei Lannister was “shamed” . . . because THEY were shamed by a passerby, and had to cut the action short.
Stallone is back to battle! Sylvester Stallone takes on the role of a retired superhero in the new Prime Video movie Samaritan. This is his first live-action role since 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood. Stallone plays Joe Smith, the world’s greatest crime fighter who vanished 25 years ago. The trailer shows Stallone working as a garbage collector in the fictional Granite City when a teenage boy he saves from bullies becomes convinced he is the Samaritan who was last seen 25 years earlier. Samaritan hits Prime Video on August 26.
Chris Rock is integrating the infamous Will Smith slap at the Oscars into his comedy stand-up. US Weekly reports that Rock addressed the incident during a recent show in New Jersey. Rock told the audience, “I’m not a victim, motherf**ker. Yeah, that s**t hurt, motherf**ker. … But I shook that s**t off and went to work the next day.” Rock also said that he doesn’t go to the hospital “for a papercut.” He also referred to Will Smith as “Suge Smith” during the set, referring to the infamous Death Row Records founder Suge Knight.

Guillermo del Toro appears to have struck gold with this new stop-motion animated adventure. Teased right from the outset as a “darker” take on the well-known story … the trailer has hit the net and it looks pretty cool.
Seth Meyers has tested positive for COVID-19. The 48-year-old host took to social media on Wednesday to confirm that he had contracted the virus and would be cancelling his NBC show Late Night for the rest of the week. “After negative tests Monday and Tuesday I tested positive for Covid this morning,” he wrote on Twitter. “Canceling shows the rest of this week. Apologies to our scheduled guests and loyal viewers.” Guests for this week’s shows included Only Murders In The Building’s Nathan Lane for Wednesday’s show, Adam Pally for Thursday, as well as Issa Rae and comedian Nikki Glasser on Friday. Seth was previously forced to cancel shows in January after testing positive for COVID.
The Kardashians are beefing with one of the institutions that helped make them who they are: Instagram. Their problem is that it’s been pushing videos and recommended content over photos lately. It all started when one Instagram user posted this message: “Make Instagram Instagram again. Stop trying to be TikTok, I just want to see cute photos of my friends. Sincerely, everyone.” Both Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner agreed with that sentiment, so Instagram CEO Adam Moressi posted a video addressing it. He said Instagram is still committed to supporting photos . . . but he added, quote, “I need to be honest. I do believe that more and more of Instagram is going to become video over time. “We see this even if we change nothing. We see this even if you just look at chronological feed.”
It’s not unusual for people to ask Steve-O to do things. In fact, he does a lot of things, like give Post Malone a tattoo or allow a swarm of bees to literally engulf his genitals. So when he was asked to appear in a commercial with Ryan Reynolds and promote a new ad brand while eating the world’s hottest pepper, it would be a little upsetting if he didn’t do it. The new ad, which is a brilliant move from MNTN, features Steve-O explaining how he built an ad campaign for his hot sauce, Hot Sauce For Your B-hole, which is a real thing that exists. The duo explains how to quickly and easily make an ad for his hot sauce. But it’s really not that easy for Steve-O, who slowly descends into madness
Things are changing . . . and even gamer culture isn’t immune to it. Rockstar Games recently made an effort to clean up its frat-boy image, both in the office and in its titles. Case in point: The “Grand Theft Auto 6” story mode will feature the first-ever playable female character in the franchise. She’ll be Latina, and she’ll be in a storyline that’s influenced by Bonnie and Clyde. Technically, women HAVE appeared in previous games, but they didn’t talk and barely had any personality. So this will still be the first time that GTA has had a legit leading lady. The developers are also making an effort not to make jokes about marginalized groups. There’s no word yet when the game will be released.
Maybe Tommy Lee shouldn’t have returned from his rib injury just yet. Because it looks like he might be using a backing track for his drums. Video just surfaced from a Motley Crue show in Kansas City, Missouri earlier this month, where Tommy doesn’t sit down at his kit fast enough, and the count-in for “Looks That Kill” starts even before he starts “playing”. Loudwire reached out to the band for comment, but they’re not taking media requests at this time.
This break-up with Camila along with everything else has taken a toll on Shawn Mendes. He announced on Wednesday that he is canceling the rest of his Wonder World tour to continue his mental health break. “As you guys know, I had to postpone the past few weeks of shows since I wasn’t totally prepared for the toll that being back on the road would take on me. I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.” He concluded his statement by thanking his fans for “supporting” and “sticking by” him on his “journey,” while noting that he’s focusing on taking “the right time to heal.” He did mention that he would be working on new music during this downtime so that’s exciting!

Adele recently announced her rescheduled Las Vegas residency, but will fans have to break the bank in order to attend? Her “Weekends With Adele” residency has been finalized, and the show will begin in November with eight new dates. All existing tickets purchased last year remain valid, fans who do not have tickets yet were shocked by what they saw. The Ticketmaster pre-sales will not begin until August 10, but record-high ticket prices are being reported on the resale ticketing site, StubHub. Fans claimed that prices were being sold for between $600 and over $40,000 each. Adele nor the venue have commented on that.
Ed Sheeran just became the first artist to cross the 100 million followers mark on Spotify and all he got was a lousy t-shirt, well actually this one was kind of cool. He shared the big news on Tuesday (July 27) showing off the celebratory tee marking the milestone, which reads, “ASK ME ABOUT MY 100 MILLION SPOTIFY FOLLOWERS.” So I just hit 100 million followers on Spotify and Spotify has sent me this T-shirt. It looks like Beyoncé’s Renaissance album is already in the wild. A tweet showed two sealed CD copies of the album and said, “The new @Beyonce album already for sale in France? Two days prior to the release date.” Another person said they found the album in the Netherlands and tweeted, “I rushed there to find a copy, but the staff got wind, I just know they hiding all those copies in the back now.” Of course, some of the music has wound up online. Cardinals analyst Al Hrabosky references Ron Jeremy in on-air gaffe – LINK
Adam Wainwright and Albert Pujols combined to get the Cardinals out of the mess they’ve recently found themselves in.
The Cardinals got home runs from the oldest (Pujols) and youngest (Nolan Gorman) members of the lineup to get them to a 6-1 victory last night. Pujols singled, doubled and homered in his first three at-bat. Wainwright pitched seven great innings and struck out eight for his first win of the second half of the season.
Cardinals play the Nationals tomorrow at 6:05 in DC.
Doug Armstrong announced today that the St. Louis Blues have signed forward Klim Kostin to a one-year, one-way contract.
Kostin, 23, played in 40 games for the Blues this past season and recorded nine points (4g, 5a). He also played in 17 games for Springfield (AHL) and recorded 6 points (3g, 3a). The 6’03,” 215-pounder was originally drafted 31st overall by the Blues in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and has played in 46 career NHL games.
Brittney Griner says she was aware the U.S. government warned Americans traveling to Russia was dangerous … but the WNBA star told a court in Moscow she decided to get on the airplane because she wanted to help her basketball team.
Griner’s drug trial continued in Russia on Wednesday, and the 31-year-old hooper testified to the reason she returned to Moscow in February despite the travel advisory.
“It’s the most important part of the season, after the break. It’s playoffs. The whole season I worked, my team worked hard to get to a good position,” Griner said, continuing, “There was nothing that was going to change that for me. I didn’t want to let my team down. I did know about the ‘do not fly’ advisory, but like I said, there was nothing that was going to change my mind on coming back and finishing my duty for my team.”
Griner admits the cannabis was never supposed to wind up in her luggage … and she still isn’t entirely certain how it happened.
Griner has pleaded guilty, and is facing up to 10 years in prison.
