CARDI B didn’t get hammered by Hurricane Ida like some people did . . . especially those in New Orleans and New York City. But she did experience some flooding . . . which she made sure to document on Instagram. She shared some pictures on her Instagram Story of water pooling up inside her home in the Atlanta area. And in one she said, quote, “Oh my god. It’s starting to stink.” Then she summed it up in a follow-up post, saying, quote, “This storm ain’t no hoe.”
Had someone doing work at my house mention she listens to the show but is a country music fan. She knows there are many others like her. She wonders if others would want to hear country music news. The 2010s were a busy time for country music. Yardbarker made a list of some of the most shocking moments during the decade. Let’s take a walk down memory lane with these highlights:
- 2010: Chely Wrightbecame the FIRST openly gay country performer. She “came out” during an interview on “The Today Show”.
- 2011: Sugarlandwas set to perform at the Indiana State Fair . . . but due to high winds, part of the stage collapsed and killed seven people and injured dozens more. Oh, and Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce and Glen Campbell announced he had Alzheimer’s. (Glen passed away in 2017.)
- 2012: Randy Traviswas arrested after being found naked in the middle of the street. He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and making threats to a police officer.
- 2013: Linda Ronstadtrevealed she has Parkinson’s disease. And George Jones passed away before the end of his farewell tour. He was 81.
- Nothing shocking in 2014, but in 2015: Radio programmer Keith Hillcompared women of country to “tomatoes” . . . just garnishes on a radio playlist that should be male-dominated. This scandal was referred to as “Tomatogate”.
- 2016: Merle Haggardpassed away on his 79th birthday. Joey Feek lost her battle with cervical cancer . . . she was 40.
- 2017: The devastating Route 91 Harvest Festivalshooting in Las Vegas. 58 people lost their lives, and hundreds were injured. Also, Troy Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash . . . he was 50.
- 2018: Gretchen Wilsonwas arrested at the Connecticut airport after belligerent behavior with the airline staff.
- 2019: The unexpected success of “Old Town Road”by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. It was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 consecutive weeks.
Imagine Dragons are now the first band with THREE Diamond-certified songs. A song has moved at least 10 million equivalent units by combining sales and streaming numbers (“Radioactive”, “Believer” and “Demons”. “Radioactive” was certified diamond on July 6, 2015, the other two were certified on Aug. 31, 2021.)
ABBA has returned, and they’re releasing their first album in 40 YEARS. It’s called “Voyage”, and it’ll be out November 5th. Here is “Don’t Shut me Down“. Next May, we’ll get to see ABBA in concert. But not live. I know it’s weird, but stick with me . . .The four members of ABBA . . . Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, and Björn Ulvaeus . . . put on those crazy motion-capture suits and spent “weeks and months” creating a digital performance. Those digital avatars . . . which look like the YOUNG version of ABBA . . . will “perform” along with a live 10-piece orchestra. These are NOT holograms, by the way. The technology is different. The show will open at a 3,000-seat arena in London. There’s no word if it’ll tour. Tickets will go on sale next week at ABBAVoyage.com. The band says, quote, “We’re going to be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring. Weird and wonderful!”
The white eyelet jumpsuit and matching cape that Elvis wore in 1972 at a Madison Square Garden show is going up for auction. But they’re not being sold together. The opening bid for the jumpsuit is $350,000 and the cape is $50,000. (For reference, Elvis passed away in 1977, so this outfit was worn towards the end of his career.) There will be other Elvis memorabilia on the block, too, like the helmet worn in “Viva Las Vegas” . . . a collection of his hair saved by one of his barbers . . . and a private Beverly Hills luncheon with ex-wife PRISCILLA PRESLEY. (They divorced in 1973.) Priscilla said, quote, “I thought, ‘Why not be a part of it?’ . . . I used to have a different opinion about these estate sales, but then as I got older I realized that you have to pass these things down to someone who’ll really appreciate them.” Part of the proceeds from the luncheon will go to the Dream Foundation in recognition of Priscilla’s mom who passed away last month. Live bidding starts tomorrow at GWSAuctions.com.
Elton John announced a new album he made during the coronavirus lockdowns, called The Lockdown Sessions, set to drop October, 22 features contributions from Stevie Wonder, Lil Nas X, Stevie Nicks, Gorillaz, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, rappers Young Thug and Nicki Minaj, country singer Brandi Carlile, Jimmie Allen and more. Ten of the 16 tracks are new original songs. Elton is preparing to restart his final world tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, September, 28 in Copenhagen. In June, he added 31 extra dates at stadiums across the US, UK and Europe in 2022, while rescheduled concerts will take the tour to May 2023.
There’s this bizarre theory that the character Roy Kent on “Ted Lasso” is actually computer generated. And it’s all thanks to a user on Reddit who said, quote, “I just started watching the pilot, and I’m up to the scene where Roy is called into Ted’s office. Am I crazy or does he look like a complete CGI character?” Well, BRETT GOLDSTEIN, who plays Roy, got wind of it and made a “final statement” on the matter with a video using an animated filter on his face (LINK)
Over the years, Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman has been accused of being racist. A phone conversation leaked with him using the “N” word. Chapman recently told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier that he thought he had a pass said, “I have never been a racist. I’m 33-and-a-half percent Apache. “I have more Black friends than Eminem. Would I die for a gay man or a Black man? I’d lay down my life!”

Hurricane Ida has forced the New Orleans Saints to move their season opener against the Green Bay Packers to Jacksonville on September 12th. Power outages and supply shortages in New Orleans left the NFL no option but to find a new location for the Saints game. Since the Saints moved their operations temporarily to Dallas, the league hoped to use the Cowboy’s AT&T Stadium, but a concert already had dibs on the date. The team will use the Jacksonville Jaguars’ TIAA Bank Field for their week 1 game while the league is looking at possible options if needed for any games after September 12th.
Ahead of the new season, NFL players voted to pick the best in the league heading into the 2021 NFL season. Chiefs Patrick Mahomes is the man! He’s entering his fourth season as a starter, and could move up in the Chiefs and NFL record book. Mahomes was just named the No. 1 player!
No. 2, Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams – Defensive tackle

Former NFL player Keith McCants was found dead Thursday at his home in Florida after a suspected drug overdose. He was 53. Cops were called to a home at about 5:10 a.m. Thursday. McCants was dead inside the house, where others who made the 911 call also apparently lived. “It appears it was a drug overdose, but we are awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner’s office,” sheriff’s spokesperson Amanda Sinni said. “This is still an open investigation.”
Former All-Star pitchers John Smoltz and Al Leiter will end their in-studio work with MLB Network after refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. MLB Network began to implement a vaccine mandate for all employees Tuesday. Smoltz and Leiter will continue to work for MLB Network through the 2021 postseason but will work remotely. Smoltz is reportedly still slated to call a Division Series game for MLB Network on-site in October.
Washington Nationals vice president Bob Boone has informed the team that he will resign instead of complying with a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all non-uniformed employees. Boone, 73, has been with the organization since 2005 and serves as a senior adviser to general manager Mike Rizzo. Boone was assistant GM and vice president of player development from 2006 to 2013.
More disasters for the Mets. New York Mets acting general manager Zack Scott will not join the team for its upcoming road trip after he was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Scott was arrested at around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday in suburban New York. Police found him asleep at the wheel of his SUV at a traffic light and determined he was intoxicated. He said Scott refused a breathalyzer test. The 44-year-old was booked and released and was due in court yesterday. The Mets announced that Scott will be on indefinite leave.
Unvaccinated NBA players on several teams such as the Knicks, Nets and Warriors will not be allowed to enter home arenas or facilities for games and team activities taking place unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption. Following local government policies in New York and San Francisco, unvaccinated Nets, Knicks and Warriors players would not be allowed to play in home games. However, visiting players would be exempt from the vaccination requirements in New York City or San Francisco. The league also informed teams that media workrooms will return in the 2021-22 season and that separate press conference rooms—that will hold at least 15 distanced people—for both home and road teams must be available.
Forget about those rookie cards and jerseys; we’ve found the ultimate piece of basketball memorabilia for you. Lelands is auctioning off a used pair of basketball legend Michael Jordan’s undies. The auctioneer says the underwear “shows definite use”; it’s not what you’re thinking though. Lelands says the threads are loose on the pair of boxer briefs. Jordan’s permed bodyguard John Wozniak, who we saw in the Netflix docu-series, The Last Dance, is offloading Jordan’s intimates. Bidding started at $500 and a bidding war has begun; the auction lasts through September 25th.
The United States played out a hard-fought draw against El Salvador in its first match of the Octagonal round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying in San Salvador on Thursday night. Tyler Adams wore the armband for the U.S., becoming the youngest player in the modern era to do so, while both Christian Pulisic and Zack Steffen were not with the team as they both recovered from setbacks
