When it comes to the corona virus he is no Tom Hanks but remember back in March Bryan Cranston and his lovely wife Robin Dearden got it? They still can’t fully experience tastes or smells the way he used to. It was actually funny because he said they got it early because they “didn’t want to miss out”. He had a temperature of 99 for about three hours, and then just exhaustion for a week after that.” And he was sick for about 10 days. He said about 75% has come back but if he walks into a room with fresh brewed coffee he cannot smell it.

The pandemic crushed the box office this year possibly for good. But even though most of the blockbusters have been pushed back, some movies DID get released. “Entertainment Weekly” put out lists of the 10 best and the five worst . . . and since this is 2020, we’re going to focus on the worst. The five they panned are: Director Robert Zemeckis’ new adaptation of “The Witches” . . . the Ben Affleck / Anne Hathaway flick “The Last Thing He Wanted” . . . the Jon Stewart movie “Irresistible” with Steve Carell . . .The Ron Howard movie “Hillbilly Elegy” with Glenn Close . . . and “Capone”, which stars Tom Hardy. Their favorites might not be as recognizable as they would be in a normal year . . . but they do include the Pixar movie “Soul”, the Jane Austen movie “Emma”, and they gave the #1 spot to “Nomadland”, a drama starring Frances McDormand.
Warner Brothers announced yesterday that all the movies on its 2021 release schedule will hit HBO Max the same day they hit theaters. They’ll be available on the streaming service for no extra charge, but only for 31 days. That’s 17 films in all, including “Godzilla vs. Kong”, “The Matrix 4”, “The Suicide Squad”, “Dune”, “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, “Tom & Jerry”, “Mortal Kombat”, “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”, and the “Sopranos” prequel, “The Many Saints of Newark”. Warner Brothers said it’s trying to guarantee, quote, “as many movies as we could for the year for the global theatrical marketplace.” They also don’t think it’ll hurt theater attendance because, quote, “We think where theaters are open, and consumers can go, that a lot of people will choose to go to the theater, especially for big movies.” Still, theater chains were caught off guard, and AMC just entered negotiations with them.

An issue with the NHL is that owners and teams are concerned about having games with no one in the stands during the coronavirus pandemic. Last year they made due…It was a season where they played in two fan-less bubbles in Canada over the summer to determine a Stanley Cup champion. In an effort to try and combat this issue, certain teams are reportedly looking into having home games in outdoor venues so that fans can congregate at limited capacity a bit more safely than in an indoor arena. These teams include the Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins, are looking into outdoor games. The Kings and Ducks are considering LA Galaxy’s park, Dignity Health Sports Park, the Bruins are considering Fenway Park and the Penguins are looking into Heinz Field and PNC Park. The Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators and Florida Panthers are also some of the teams looking at outdoor venues. Carolina has NC State’s football field across the street, Dallas is considering AT&T Stadium, and Nashville and Florida have each expressed interested in an outdoor home schedule, but no specifics have been revealed

Gordon will be allowed to begin COVID-19 testing Friday and might join the Seahawks on Dec. 9 if he tests negative for the coronavirus.
The minor-league franchise in Staten Island, New York, which until early November was the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, on Thursday announced that it is shutting down operations. In the same release, the Franchise also announced it was filing suit against the Yankees and MLB for that loss of affiliation.” The Staten Island Yankees are ceasing operations and have filed a lawsuit seeking legal remedies. The New York Yankees announced on November 7, 2020 that the Staten Island Yankees were no longer part of the Yankees minor league affiliation structure, even though the Yankees had made repeated assurances we would always be a minor league partner. Although we still have not heard this from the Yankees directly, it would appear from their press release that they would like us to go from the past arrangement in which the Staten Island Yankees were an affiliated minor league team of the New York Yankees – where we facilitated player development and brand exposure, among other benefits to the New York Yankees – to one in which we play unaffiliated baseball with no relationship to the Yankees whatsoever.” MLB is in the midst of an ongoing effort to reduce the number of affiliated minor-league franchises and the Yankees’ decision to cut ties with the Staten Island team is part of that initiative. In all, 40 or so minor-league franchises stand to lose MLB affiliation.
NBC ‘s Cris Collinsworth learned Wednesday night that when you make a comment, especially about women, it will come back to haunt you. During Wednesday’s Steelers game against the Ravens, Collinsworth talked with Mike Tirico about conversations he had with Steelers fans before the game. He revealed that he was “blown away” to learn that women are knowledgeable about football. Here is what he said… ((AUDIO)) And people thought nothing of it right? Wrong…here is one of the comments from social media: “Someone tell Cris Collinsworth that being blown away by women who like football and are knowledgeable Steelers fans isn’t the compliment he thinks it is.” Collinsworth later issued a lengthy apology. “Today on our broadcast I made reference to a couple of women I met in Pittsburgh who so impressed me with their football knowledge that I wanted to tell their story on the air,” Collinsworth wrote. “I know the way I phrased it insulted many. I’m so sorry. What I intended as a compliment to the fans of Pittsburgh, became an insult. I’m sick about insulting any fan, but especially female fans and journalists. I know first hand how much harder they have to work than any of us in this industry. I was wrong and deeply apologize.”

The Alabama Class 7A state championship game between Thompson and Auburn on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa featured one of the most incredible finishes you’ll ever see. After turning the ball over on downs with 1:18 to play trailing by nine, 28–19, Thompson looked dead in the water. But then came the first of several miracles. Thompson’s Korbyn Williams blocked the punt and returned it for a touchdown. Now, with 18 seconds on the clock and trailing 28–26, Thompson needed to recover the onside kick and score again. The Warriors accomplished the first part of that equation with relative ease. No Auburn player seemed particularly keen to try to recover the onside attempt, and it ended up in the hands of a Thompson player at the 46-yard line. Thompson needed some help. That help came in the form of two pass interference penalties. The flags advanced the ball to the 18-yard line of the Tigers, giving Thompson kicker Trevor Hardy a chance to kick a 35-yard field goal for the win. It went through as time expired, giving Thompson a 29–28 victory. That’s 10 points scored in 18 seconds
