Working Out Only on Weekends Is Just as Good as Exercising Daily?

The biggest problem with exercising is finding the time to do it . . . every single day.  Well, that and working out is NOT AS FUN as sitting on the couch watching Netflix.

But according to a new study, exercising only on weekends can boost your health just as much as working out every day.

Experts recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of “vigorous” exercise for 18- to 64-year-olds every week.  That is the benchmark to be an “active” adult.

Active adults are less likely to die from things like cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and other diseases compared to couch potatoes.

You could hit those targets with a brisk 30-minute walk five days a week . . . OR a more intense hour-and-15-minute jog once a week.  There wasn’t a big difference in the death rates for active adults whether they did their exercising throughout the week . . . or crammed it all into the weekend.

Obviously, these are only the goals for maintaining an active lifestyle.  If you’re looking to lose weight or build muscle, you’ll need to do more than that.

More Dogs in Your Neighborhood Means Less Crime, but Not for the Reason You Think

One reason people have dogs is to scare off burglars.  And a new study found it really does work . . . but don’t thank your dog just yet.

Researchers at Ohio State compared crime stats in different neighborhoods to how many dog owners there were.  And they found that more dogs DOES equal less crime.

But it’s not just because your dog is scaring off burglars.  It’s also because YOU are.

They found that people who walk their dogs basically have the same effect as Neighborhood Watch groups patrolling the streets.

If lots of people are out walking their dogs every day, they notice when anything weird is going on.  So it ends up being a crime deterrent.

There’s an even bigger difference in areas where people know and trust each other.

High-trust neighborhoods with lots of dog owners have around two-thirds as many robberies, and half as many homicides.

Police Are Looking for Someone Who Broke into a Pool . . . and Dropped a Deuce

Police in New Hampshire are looking for someone who broke into a public pool and vandalized it.  They believe the person defecated in the water . . . but they won’t bother testing it to find out for sure.

Everyone knows there’s a “no peeing in the pool” rule, but this person went even further than that . . . probably.

There’s a large, public outdoor pool in Portsmouth, New Hampshire . . . and they were expecting a FULL pool on July 4th.  But there was a break-in the night before, and someone vandalized the pool.

The police say they believe someone jumped the fence and defecated in the pool, so it had to be closed all day so the water could be shocked and treated.

To be clear:  That’s what it LOOKED like happened.  The police say they aren’t going to bother testing the deposit to determine exactly what went down.  The pool reopened yesterday.  (And here’s to the brave souls who returned on Day 1!)

The police are investigating but it’s unclear if they have a suspect.  They’d be in trouble for trespassing and vandalism . . . but other than the Number Two, there was no major property damage.

“Forbes” released their list of the 100 richest self-made women in America.  And can you guess who is the youngest female to make the list?  ((AUDIO)) Rihanna is the youngest billionaire and she’s only 34 years old.  Sorry Kylie Jenner. 24-year-old Kylie was once considered a billionaire, but her status was taken away a few years ago due to a miscalculation.  Kylie did make the list, but she’s “only” worth $600,000.

Here are the other famous ladies who made the list, along with their ranking and worth:

  1. Oprah Winfrey. . . $2.6 billion
  2. Kim Kardashian. . . $1.8 billion
  3. Rihanna. . . $1.4 billion
  4. Kylie Jenner. . . $600 million
  5. Madonna. . . $575 million
  6. Taylor Swift. . . $570 million
  7. Judy Sheindlin(Judge Judy) . . . $480 million
  8. Celine Dion. . . $470 million
  9. Beyoncé. . . $450 million
  10. Barbra Streisand. . . $425 million
  11. Dolly Parton. . . $375 million
  12. Tennis player Serena Williams. . . $260 million
  13. Kris Jenner. . . $230 million
  14. Sandra Bullock. . . $225 million

No surprise here, Keanu Reeves is STILL one of the coolest guys in Hollywood.  After landing in New York City from London on Monday, he was approached by a kid at the baggage claim. A young boy asked him for an autograph and, as kids like to do, he asked a million questions like “Why were you in London?” . . . “Do you live in New York?” . . . and “Why are you in New York?” But Keanu answered every single one.  AND he even asked the kid questions about his own trip.  The whole thing was documented on Twitter by someone standing nearby.  Quote, “I thought I’d share this because the dude is a class act and little moments like this can make such a big difference in people’s lives.  We need more Keanus!”

JAMES CAMERON’s “Avatar” sequels are gonna be long.  Like, three hours or more.  And he can already hear people complaining about it.  His message to those complainers?  SHUT UP. He says, quote, “I don’t want anybody whining about length when they sit and binge-watch [TV] for eight hours . . . It’s like, give me [an effing] break.  I’ve watched my kids sit and do five one-hour episodes in a row.”  Cameron also explained how he’s bringing SIGOURNEY WEAVER back for “Avatar 2”, even though her character died in the first one.  She’s playing a totally different character.  She plays Kiri, Jake and Neytiri’s adoptive teenage daughter. “Avatar: The Way of Water” hits theaters on December 16th.

Tom Cruise could earn up to $90 million from “Top Gun: Maverick” . . . ironically, a movie that he once said would be, quote, “irresponsible” to make. An entertainment reporter broke down Tom’s potentially MASSIVE pay day, and it’s all thanks to technicalities in his contract.  His salary was $12.5 million . . . plus 10% of Paramount’s gross box office total. Right now the movie has earned $1.1 billion, but if it reaches $1.3 billion, Tom’s cut would be around $55 million. Now his cut from a DVD release and streaming would have to be factored in, but it’s unclear what Tom’s contract looks like on that front.  But at the end of the day, he’s estimated to be looking at $80 to $90 million.

We have watched A BILLION HOURS of “Stranger Things 4”.  That’s not just in the U.S., but worldwide.  It also includes both parts of the season, over the first 28 days since Part 1 started streaming. It’s the first English-language series to hit that mark on Netflix, and the second overall, after “Squid Game”.

Millie Bobby Brown called the Duffer Brothers “sensitive Sallies” for not being able to kill people off.  The guys had a laugh about that, and said more deaths are “on the table” for Season 5.

Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” has reportedly made $2.3 million in streaming royalties since being featured on “Stranger Things”.  And since Kate owns her own recordings, she probably gets 80% of that.

Metallica says they are “beyond psyched” to have their song “Master of Puppets” featured in this season of “Stranger Things”.  And if you haven’t seen it yet – here is a spoiler free clip of it in the show (AUDIO) Here’s what Metallica posted:  The way the Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into “Stranger Things” has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include “Master of Puppets” in the show, but to have such a pivotal scene built around it.  We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away

Lots of guys dream about having a bigger package.  But would that be a blessing or a curse?  There’s a British documentary casting right now called “Too Large for Love”.  And yeah, it’s about guys who are seriously packing. The show will, quote, “discuss the hidden problems of living with a very large penis, how it effects all aspects of life including your sex life, and what help is out there for those in need. There’s no word if the show will air here in the U.S., but come on, it’s gotta.  Get on that, Netflix.

Save the date! ABC and Disney want audiences to be their guest for the 30th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast. ((AUDIO)) An upcoming television special will celebrate one of Disney’s most successful animated features. The two-hour live special will blend live-action and animation with an all-new cast bringing the iconic musical to life.  The special will include live never-before-seen musical performances, along with new sets and costumes inspired by the classic story. The live production of Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration airs Thursday, December 15 at 8 PM EST on ABC, and will be available the next day on Disney+.

Someone got a protection order against RICKY MARTIN, but he says he did nothing wrong.  The details are a little fuzzy, but here’s what we know: According to a newspaper in Puerto Rico, the accuser claims he was in a relationship with Ricky for seven months, but they had a messy breakup.  Since then, Ricky has supposedly been harassing the guy, and he “fears for his safety.” Ricky issued a statement on Sunday, saying the protection order is, quote, “based on completely false allegations.”  But he wouldn’t say anything else about them. However, Ricky’s brother Eric said the accuser is an estranged nephew with mental health problems.

  1. Kelly’s time on suicide watch is over.  He was given the protective treatment last week by federal authorities after being sentenced to 30 years in jail.  Kelly’s attorneys argued the suicide watch was “solely for punitive purposes.” A Tuesday filing said Kelly had been voluntarily removed from the status.

Carlos Santana collapsed onstage, ending his concert last night at Pine Knob Music Theater in Michigan.  Luckily it was just a case of heat exhaustion and dehydration.  74-year-old Carlos said later, “Just taking it easy.  Forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out.”.  Oddly enough we have a clip of what all went down during the concert.  Here is the AUDIO.

At this point, music is basically a HOBBY for Sammy Hagar, because he makes more money from selling booze and his other business ventures these days.  And that’s the way he likes it. He says, quote, “I don’t have to do it for a living; I don’t have to make it my business.  So I can pay my band more than they can make [elsewhere], and they’re happy. “They’re happy to play with me.  We all walk out on stage, and we’re happy to do it, because we don’t have to do it.” He adds, quote, “A lot of people are doing it for money.  And they go out and they punch the clock.  We do it for fun . . . if someone said, ‘Hey, you’ve got to play 150 shows this year,’ I’d tell ’em, ‘I quit.'”

Chris Brown wants you to say something nice about him.  After a top-five chart debut for his Breezy album, Brown is blaming the media for not talking about his music but always talking about his misgivings.  Brown posted on Instagram, “July 8th [Breezy] deluxe album, not that [it] matters… SEEMS LIKE YALL ONLY INVEST IN THE NEGATIVE STORIES ABOUT ME. CHRIS GETS IN TROUBLE (THE WHOLE WORLD IS ON it). Chris drops album…[cricket emojis].” Breezy moved 72,000 album-equivalent units in its first week out. The album rose to number four on the Billboard 200 chart.

THE BACKSTREET BOYS brought out their “sixth member” DRAKE at a show in Toronto last Saturday.  ((AUDIO)) They sang “I Want It That Way”, which was apparently a special part of Drake’s teenage years. He said, quote, “At my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl who I was in love with came up to me while one of the greatest songs of all time played . . . She asked me if I would dance with her to the song.  It was the first time I ever felt acknowledged, like I had a shot at being cool.” The Backstreet Boys posted a video of the performance.  You can see Drake dance along, then he gets to sing the very last part of the song.

Have you ever used Shazam to identify a song you heard in a movie?  You’re not alone.  After going through data, Shazam made a list of the 40 most-searched songs from movies.  Here are the Top 10:

  1. “Happy”by Pharrell Williams in “Despicable Me 2” . . . 17.2 million searches

  1. “Gangsta’s Paradise”by Coolio featuring LV in “Dangerous Minds” . . . 14.8 million

Brett Favre says that a broadcast headset is now a real possibility … he said he’s starting to open up to the idea of joining a big network to broadcast and analyze NFL games.

“I would consider it,” the 52-year-old Green Bay Packers legend said.

Of course, the offer would have to be right — Favre said he’s looking for a “great deal” and perhaps a Monday night or Thursday night broadcasting gig — but he, nonetheless, said he’d seriously ponder it all. As for another quarterback legend who’s already committed to broadcasting games in the future — Tom Brady — Favre said he’s not surprised at all the guy received a $375 MILLION deal to talk ball on TV.
