British cover band Borderline Toxic got a toxic shock Saturday night when none other than Billie Joe Armstrong not only showed up at their gig at Slim Jim’s Liquor Store in London, but joined them on stage to perform “Basket Case.” Green Day posted a minute of the festivities on their YouTube page with the caption: “When you walk into a pub and the cover band starts playing your song.”
The Offsping have a new drummer, and he played his first show with them last Thursday when they kicked off a European tour in Winterthur, Switzerland. He’s Brandon Pertzborn, whose musical resumé includes stints with Black Flag, Suicidal Tendencies, Corey Taylor and Marylin Manson, He became fifth official Offspring drummer since they began using that name in 1986. He follows James Lilja, Ron Welty, Atom Willard and Pete Perada. He posted the news on Instagram following his first show.

Nita Strauss will release her new solo album, Into the Void, on July 7th. Besides already shared collaborations with David Draiman of Disturbed and Alice Cooper, the album includes guest vocals from Dorothy, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and Chris Cerulli of Motionless in White.

Ted Nugent is back in the news after one of his farewell tour concert dates in Alabama was canceled due to people urging the Avondale Brewery to do so, he replaced that show with a new show in Mississippi, then went on his ‘Nightly Nuge’ show to explain that he cannot be canceled. The Nuge says quote, “I stand up for God, family and country,” before going on to deny a string of allegations made against him over the years, according to Ultimate Classic Rock, including that he dodged the draft and offended Native Americans. “I’m not homophobic,” he insisted. “I’ve got gay friends and we snuggle. I’m not racist. I am black. … All the nasty allegations are 100% false. Now, I’ve made some mistakes in life, but they haven’t mentioned any of those. Taylor Swift yelled at a security guard who was harassing a group of girls during her show in Philly on Saturday night. The guard got booted, and the girls were given free tickets to last night’s show.
Jamie Foxx is recuperating at home and even played pickleball, according to his daughter. Still no word what his “medical complication” was. “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild,” Corinne Foxx wrote Friday in a note on her Instagram Stories. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!” (LINK)
The Rock reportedly has a cameo in a post-credits scene in “Fast X”. It sounds like there are going to be two more movies, so he might have a bigger presence before it’s over. The Rock made it VERY CLEAR that he’s not a fan of Vin Diesel, and he had no intention of returning to the “Fast & Furious” franchise. But he either lied, or he had a change of heart. There’s no official word yet, but that COULD mean that he’ll have a larger role in the franchise going forward. Diesel recently said that the big finale was being split into TWO movies. But now he says the studio wants a TRILOGY . . . which would mean we’re getting a “Fast 11” AND “Fast 12”.
Because of the Writers Guild strike, the Tonys will NOT be televised on June 11th as scheduled. There’s no word if they’ll give out the awards in a non-televised event, or wait for the end of the strike.
Willem Dafoe joined the cast of “Beetlejuice 2” which Tim Burton is shooting now. Dafoe joins Michael Keaton who is playing Beetlejuice again, Winona Ryder who will be Lydia once again and Jenna Ortega who will play Lydia’s daughter. Catherine O’Hara is among the returning cast as well. Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci are newcomers to the storyline as well (LINK)
