Rusty Young, a cofounder of Poco and the band’s only constant member since its formation in 1968, has died. He was 75. He died yesterday of a heart attack at his home in Davisville, Mo. He was born in Long Beach, Calif., but was raised in Denver. Poco’s debut album, Pickin’ Up the Pieces, was released in 1969 and marked one of the first records in the growing country-rock movement. Over the next four decades, Poco released close to 20 albums. Poco placed 17 singles in the Top 100 through 1989.

It’s officially OVER between JENNIFER LOPEZ and ALEX RODRIGUEZ.  They issued a joint statement yesterday saying, quote, “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.  We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. “Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.” On his Instagram Story, Alex posted a video showing some pictures of the family in happier times, with COLDPLAY’s”Fix You” playing in the background . . . and he tagged Jennifer. There’s still no word why they split.  According to TMZ, J-Lo still has the $1.8 million engagement ring, and they haven’t decided yet if she needs to give it back.

PRINCE PHILIP’s funeral will be held tomorrow at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.  PRINCE WILLIAM and PRINCE HARRY will be part of the procession . . . but they will NOT walk together. They’ll be separated by a cousin, Peter Phillips, who is the son of PRINCESS ANNE.  She’s PRINCE CHARLES’ sister. From what I understand Wilson Philips will not be there. There are actually TWO processions, and William and Harry won’t be walking together in the second one, either.

Buckingham Palace asks that you be ever so kind as to not read anything into this.  They issued a statement saying the procession order was, quote, “a practical change rather than sending a signal. “This is a funeral and we are not going to be drawn into perceptions of drama.  The arrangements have been agreed and represent Her Majesty’s wishes.”

Organizers of the infamous Fyre Festival and 277 attendees have reached a $2 million settlement, nearly four years after a $100 million class action lawsuit was first filed. Each plaintiff will receive $7,220. But that figure could be lower depending on the outcome of Fyre Fest’s bankruptcy case with various creditors. Celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos filed the lawsuit in May 2017 citing well everything we all saw on the interwebs…lack of adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care created a dangerous and panicked situation among attendees…he said it was closer to The Hunger Games or Lord of the Flies than Coachella. Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland was ordered to pay $5 million in damages to a pair of attendees. He is currently serving out a six-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud. In more recent Fyre Fest news, co-founder Ja Rule — who was legally cleared in the class action lawsuit — sold an NFT oil painting of the logo for $122,000. The viral cheese sandwich tweet which brought attention to the fiasco is also being auctioned off as an NFT by owner Trevor DeHaas in order to cover expenses for his daily dialysis and potential kidney transplant.

STEVE-O has punished himself in so many different ways on “Jackass” that it seems like it would be boring watching him ingest even the hottest wing sauces on that YouTube show “Hot Ones”. But in true “Jackass” fashion, he made sure it was worth watching.  At the end of the episode, he chugged an entire bottle of his own sauce, which is called Steve-O’s Hot Sauce For Your Butthole.  Of course. Then, he took what was left in the bottle and poured it INTO HIS EYEBALL

KATY PERRY has decided that social media is “trash” and “the decline of human civilization.”

Back in March Facebook announced that it had plans to create an Instagram platform that would be tailored to users 13 and under. Advocate groups for the rights of kids have a problem with the creation of this platform though. The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood put out a letter addressed to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to explain why they feel that the platform would be a bad idea. The main issues are it will basically be a place to create ads directed at kids and it will actually encourage kids to use social media even more. And kids are very vulnerable to what is out there citing the platform’s “manipulative and exploitative features.”

The official “Game of Thrones” Twitter account Tweeted that “Winter is coming”, and some desperate fans want to believe that means they’re remaking Season 8.  But more likely it has something to do with one of the upcoming prequel series.

A journalist at the cast-filled F9 press conference this week asked a about a possible Fast & Furious and Jurassic World crossover film, since both are owned by Universal. F9 actress Michelle Rodriguez said she’s down for it, responding with “I’m all in! …once you reach a certain pinnacle, there’s nowhere to go but to cross-brand and merge. I’m just sayin’ it works.”…but then F9 director Justin Lin chimed in that he’s open to a crossover, too, saying “Well, I’ll never say never to anything. And the fact that part of our philosophy is not ever to be boxed in or labelled… that’s all I will say.”F9 hits theaters June 25h.  The next Jurassic World installment, Dominion, opens June 10th, 2022.

The first Yeezy sneakers ever worn in public by Kanye West are going on sale for over $1 million. The Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototypes first seen at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008, will be among the most expensive sneakers ever to appear on the market, according to Sotheby’s auction house, which is organizing the sale. Described in a press release as “one of the most prized and sought-after sneakers in existence,” the shoes will be offered via private sale after going on display in Hong Kong later this month. Sotheby’s did not reveal an exact asking price, though it said it has valued the item “in excess of $1 million.” This would pass the $615,000, set at Christie’s in May 2020 by a pair of autographed Nike Air Jordan 1s worn by Michael Jordan in 1985.

I don’t know if there’s such thing as perfect casting, but this is close:  PETE DAVIDSON from “Saturday Night Live” will play JOEY RAMONE in an upcoming Netflix movie. It’s called “I Slept with Joey Ramone”, and it’s based on a book of the same name by Joey’s BROTHER, Mickey Leigh. This will be Pete’s second Netflix rock biopic.  He played the guy who signed MOTLEY CRUE in “The Dirt”.

It’s incredible . . . “NCIS” is still TV’s most watched drama series . . . regularly drawing more than 12 million viewers per episode. But there was some debate as to whether CBS would continue the show beyond this season, mostly because MARK HARMON was thinking about moving on.  After all, he’s played the role of NCIS Special Agent Jethro Gibbs since 2003 on “JAG”. However, it’s now official:  It WILL be back for a 19th season . . . WITH Harmon. That said, he may not be a full-time cast member going forward.  The “Hollywood Reporter” says that his deal may only include “a limited number of episodes.”

This is NOT official yet, but YVETTE NICOLE BROWN thinks a “Community” reunion movie WILL happen. She says, quote, “We have a reunion every morning.  We have a group text that is popping.  We joke and laugh with each other randomly . . . we always check in with each other daily. “The movie?  I think it’s coming.  I don’t know when, [but] I know we all want to do it and that’s half the battle.”

The Cardinals are back in action tonight as they are on the road up in Philly for a weekend series.  Tonight, Carlos Martinez gets the start…first pitch is scheduled for 6:05PM.

Tomorrow the Blues are back in action.  They take on the Coyotes on the road in Arizona.  The Blues are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Avalanche.  Puck drop tomorrow is at 5PM.

On Thursday, the NHL announced it delayed plans for the Vancouver Canucks to return to action Friday because of the COVID-19 outbreak that struck the team. The NHL said: the decision to extend the period prior to the team’s return of play was made to provide staff and Players with additional time for recovery and preparation following its recent COVID outbreak. The NHL made the decision with input from the League’s, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups.” Schedule changes for the North Division will be released sometime today. Vancouver has not played a game since March 24.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the list of Hall of Famers scheduled to present the 2020 class of honorees — led by Michael Jordan honoring Kobe Bryant. Jordan, who spoke at Bryant’s memorial service in February 2020, will also introduce Baylor women’s coach Kim Mulkey, making him the only Hall of Famer presenting multiple candidates during this year’s induction ceremony. The connection between Jordan — arguably the greatest player of all time — and Bryant — who did everything he could to emulate his idol — was far deeper than anyone knew. “At first, it was an aggravation. Then it became a passion. As I got to know him, I wanted to be the best big brother I could be.” Bryant is far from the only big name in the 2020 class, which is being honored on May 15 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fellow first-ballot inductees Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, while Rudy Tomjanovich, the two-time NBA champion coach of the Houston Rockets, will be presented by franchise icon Hakeem Olajuwon.

Brooklyn Nets center LaMarcus Aldridge announced on Twitter on Thursday that he is retiring from the NBA after experiencing an irregular heartbeat during his final appearance with the team. “For 15 years I’ve put basketball first,” Aldridge wrote. “And now, it is time to put my health and family first.” Aldridge, 35, said he experienced the irregular heartbeat during the Nets’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, after which his condition worsened.  Aldridge had missed the Nets’ past two games with what the team called a non-COVID-19 illness.

YouTuber Jake Paul said he has brain damage a day out from a highly-publicized boxing match but will carry on fighting despite this setback. Paul said in a press conference that he had done a brain scan, which revealed early signs of CTE. “It’s a dangerous sport. That’s why, when people question my dedication to it, it’s like, I’m showing up every single day, I’m putting my mental health on the line. My brain is on the line. Like you said, I’ve gone and gotten brain scans and have early signs of CTE.” But Paul says he will carry on with the match regardless. His fight against Ben Askren happens tomorrow night on Triller.

Remember when the worst thing you could say about the one-time transfer rule was that it was akin to college “free agency”? Transfers run like wild people…leaving on a whim to the school of their choice? But there were some setbacks.  If someone transferred, there was a year waiting period before they could play.  WAS is the key word.  The NCAA Division I Council on Thursday formally approved long-awaited transfer legislation that will allow all athletes in the five “revenue” sports one free transfer in their careers without sitting out a year-in-residence. Transfer freedom had to be allowed because the NCAA’s rules continue to be exposed to legal liability.

There was a lot of love for the punters early in the 2021 CFL Global Draft. The BC Lions made Australia’s Jake Ford the first pick of the OVERALL. Ford was one of four punters selected in the nine-team first round. It does helps that the Canadian Football League has rules that allow punters to contribute on the scoreboard. The league gives teams a single point when the ball is kicked into the end zone. Ford, 28, played Aussie rules football until coming to the United States, eventually spending time at the University of Oregon and a division II program. He led the nation in net punting in 2018.

It’s been more than 30 years since PETE ROSE was banned from baseball for gambling on games, WHILE he was a manager.  And now, he’s found a way to make a little money . . . KIND OF betting, but not. Pete has partnered with a service called UpickTrade, where you’ll be able to purchase his “picks” on games . . . for the measly price of $89 a month. So basically, Pete will help YOU gamble on games . . . if, for whatever reason, you’re willing to pay $89 to hear what an 80-year-old Pete Rose has to say, in an era where you have a ton of FREE resources at your fingertips. Pete insists he’s not thumbing his nose at MLB, because he’s not actually placing bets on his predictions . . . he’s just making picks.  He says, quote, “I’m not hurting [commissioner] Rob Manfred.  I’m not trying to show him up by doing that.  I’m trying to make a living like everyone else . . . It’s not me trying to give baseball a black eye, because I’m not.  I love baseball.”
