Legendary songwriter JIM STEINMAN died on Monday. There’s no official word on the cause of death, but it sounds like it was sudden. Wikipedia says he died from kidney failure. There was an emergency call to his home early Sunday morning. Jim was 73. Jim had a stroke four years ago, and his health had been declining. Jim is best known for writing MEAT LOAF’s best stuff . . . including his 1977 album “Bat Out of Hell” and its 1993 follow-up “Bat Out of Hell 2: Back Into Hell”. He also wrote hit singles for other artists . . . like “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion, “Making Love Out of Nothing At All” by Air Supply, and Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. “Bat Out of Hell” took a while to catch on, but once it did, it blew up. It sold tens of millions of copies, and is near the top of pretty much every list of best-selling albums. In 2017, Jim turned “Bat Out of Hell” and “Bat Out of Hell 2” into a stage musical. Meat Loaf issued a statement on Facebook saying, quote, “Coming here soon, My brother Jimmy. Fly Jimmy Fly.”
Because of the Derek Chauvin guilty verdict yesterday CBS decided to ditch new episodes of “NCIS” and “FBI”, and air reruns instead. Weird since neither of the new episodes seems related to the case. The scrapped episode of “NCIS” was about the stabbing of a Marine Sergeant. And the “FBI” episode was about a man who is killed by an explosive package shipped to his home.
It’s incredible . . . “NCIS” is still TV’s most watched drama series . . . regularly drawing more than 12 million viewers per episode. But there was some debate as to whether CBS would continue the show beyond this season, mostly because MARK HARMON was thinking about moving on. After all, he’s played the role of NCIS Special Agent Jethro Gibbs since 2003 on “JAG”. However, it’s now official: It WILL be back for a 19th season . . . WITH Harmon. That said, he may not be a full-time cast member going forward. The “Hollywood Reporter” says that his deal may only include “a limited number of episodes.”
Netflix gave an update on the password-sharing crackdown. They said” we test many things, but we would never roll something out that feels like ‘turning the screws,’ as you said,” “we’re seeking that flexible approach to make sure that we are providing the plan with the right features and the right price points to meet those needs,” But make no mistake if you are password sharing your time is coming.
Would you be excited if a reality show came to your town to film? A Netflix reality show about social media influencers is to be filmed in a New South Wales town called Byron Bay. Byron Bay locals are not at all happy. They have protested. Around 100 surfers paddled to sea yesterday to form a cancel symbol. Several businesses have refused to sign filming permits that would allow Byron Baes, a contemporary abbreviation of “Byron Babes,” to be shot on their premises. “It’s potentially going to threaten businesses if the portrayal of Byron is as absurd as I guess a lot of the doco-soap-reality shows are,” Byron Shire Mayor Simon Richardson told Australian Broadcasting Corp. Ben Gordon is refusing to allow the eight-episode series to be filmed at his business, The Byron Bay General Store. He says they will make millions of dollars without offering anything back to the community and he says there was no consultation whatsoever. They just came in unannounced,” Gordon added. Also, that most of the cast were not from Byron Bay. The town of 9,000 people is one of the most famous in Australia, partly because acting couple Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have built a mansion there. International celebrities who are based or spend time in Byron Bay include Matt Damon, Zac Efron and Simon Baker.

This is NOT official yet, but YVETTE NICOLE BROWN thinks a “Community” reunion movie WILL happen. She says, quote, “We have a reunion every morning. We have a group text that is popping. We joke and laugh with each other randomly . . . we always check in with each other daily. “The movie? I think it’s coming. I don’t know when, [but] I know we all want to do it and that’s half the battle.”

We’ve had FIVE “Jeopardy!” guest hosts so far, and some have definitely been better than others. If you’re wondering how they’ve been doing in the rankings, here are the numbers so far: Ken Jennings was the first person to take the podium following Alex Trebek’s death, and so far, he’s done the best, with an average Nielsen rating of 6. “Jeopardy!” producer Mike Richards is second with a 5.9. Aaron Rodgers is third with a 5.6 . . . but that’s after only ONE WEEK. His second-week ratings weren’t in yet when the list was compiled. Katie Couric is next with a 5.5. And Dr. Oz brings up the rear with an average rating of 5.1. The rating represents the number of TV households estimated to be watching a show. According to Nielsen, there are 121 million TV households in the U.S. So Aaron’s 5.6 means that 5.6% of those households were watching him. Anderson Cooper just started his first two-week stint guest-hosting
We have been seeing that award shows are just ratings crap anymore right? Every time there is an award show the next day or 2 I tell you the rating were garbage. But the ACM Awards on Sunday Ill have to say they made it worse. Worse than the IN pandemic 2020 edition even. CBS’ telecast Sunday averaged 6.28 million viewers and a 0.82 rating among adults 18-49. While the 2020 ceremony had 6.82 million and 1.1.

Outfielder Yasiel Puig has agreed to a deal with El Aguila de Veracruz of the Mexican League. Puig did not play in Major League Baseball last season after testing positive for COVID-19. It was initially reported last July 14 that Puig had agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Braves, but the contract was never finalized since it was reportedly contingent on him testing negative for the coronavirus. Puig released a statement three days later and officially announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. At the time, Puig wrote that he was asymptomatic and felt “absolutely fine.”
It’s crystal clear who’ll be steering the 2021 NFL Draft for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and several more to follow. Mike Tomlin, the head coach who is working to help the organization bounce back – signed a three-year extension with the Steelers that will take him through the 2024 season. Tomlin took over as head coach in 2007. The Steelers have third best winning percentage in the league since he took over — along with eight playoff victories. To put it all into greater perspective, the Steelers have logged 14 consecutive seasons without a losing record under Tomlin, along with two Super Bowl appearances and victory in Super Bowl XLIII.
Deion Sanders will finish his first season as Jackson State’s head football coach with a 4-3 record. The Tigers’ final game against Prairie View A&M scheduled for Saturday was canceled because of COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within Jackson State’s program. Sanders was hired by Jackson State in September. The Pro Football Hall of Famer was brought in to turn around a program that posted six consecutive seasons without a winning record from 2014 to ’19. The Tigers started 3-0 under Sanders before losing their next three games. Their final win was a forfeit victory over Alcorn State, which opted out of the spring season.
With Kobe Bryant’s five-year, post-retirement endorsement extension with Nike having expired this month, Vanessa Bryant and the Kobe Bryant estate elected not to renew the partnership. She said: “Kobe’s Nike contract expired on 4/13/21. Kobe and Nike have made some of the most beautiful basketball shoes of all time, worn and adored by fans and athletes in all sports across the globe. It seems fitting that more NBA players wear my husband’s product than any other signature shoe.” According to a source, Bryant and the estate had grown frustrated with Nike limiting the availability of Kobe products during his retirement and after his January 2020 death in a helicopter crash. There was also frustration with the lack of availability of Kobe footwear in kids’ sizes. Nike, sources said, had presented an extension offer that was not in line with expectations of an ongoing “lifetime” structure similar to the Nike Inc. contracts held by both Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
On Sunday evening, the announcement of a European Super League shook the world of soccer to its core, sparking protests and outrage from fans, players and more. By Tuesday night, the Super League appeared to be nothing more than a dream after Premier League clubs Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all announced their withdrawal from the proposed Super League. Manchester City was the first club make an official announcement and, within hours, the five other clubs followed suit.
