Sigourney Weaver might be72, but that’s not stopping her from playing a teenager in “Avatar: The Way of Water”. She’ll be the adopted daughter of Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana’s characters. If you remember, she was in the first movie and, spoiler alert, died. But this new role is unrelated. In “Interview Magazine”, she said, quote, “So ‘Avatar’ I can’t really talk about, but I would say that it’s the biggest stretch I get to play in every possible way . . .”I think if [director] James Cameron didn’t know me really well, he wouldn’t have cast me as something as goofy as this. I had to work in a completely different way to play this character, a very physical way.”
Remember back in January of 2021, when a bunch of agitators on Reddit caused chaos on the stock market by artificially inflating the value of GameStop stock? Well, of course there’s gonna be a movie about it. It’s called “Dumb Money”, and it’ll star Seth Rogen, Pete Davidson, Sebastian Stan, and Paul Dano. Filming begins this month.
Tom Hanks made a trivia game for Apple Arcade. It’s called “Hanx 101 Trivia” and it comes out Friday. And before you ask, no, the questions won’t be all about Tom. There’ll be about 58,000 questions about different subjects like history, science, food, art, and technology. But Tom will narrate the game. You can play solo or compete head-to-head with another player. If you’re not familiar with Apple Arcade, it’s a gaming subscription service. You can do a free trial to check out Tom’s game, or pay $4.99 a month. It can be played on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TV.
Country singer Luke Bell passed away at age 32 on Monday after having gone missing for more than a week in Arizona. Luke Bell was found dead near the area where he was reported missing, with a cause of death “unknown” at this time as the investigation continues. Luke’s manager spoke to TMZ saying, “Luke fought this as hard as he could, but the disease got the better of him. When he was beating the disease, he was the sweetest and most generous guy. He’s found peace now and there’s some comfort.” Many folks discussed his struggle with mental health.
Gisele Bundchen apparently does NOT stand by Tom Brady’s decision to return to the NFL. According to the “New York Post”, the two were fighting pretty hard about it, to the point where Gisele left the family home in Tampa and jetted to Costa Rica. A so-called “source” says this isn’t the first time they’ve had this argument, but they always make up. If you recall, Tom took a mysterious 11-day break from training camp, and when he returned, he wouldn’t say where he’d been. What he did say was, quote, “It’s all personal . . . everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with. We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of [stuff] going on.”

There are more cast changes coming to “Saturday Night Live.” Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor and Aristotle Athari are not expected to return for the 48th season, adding to an exodus that began in May when Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Pete Davidson revealed plans to exit the show. Athari spent one season with the “SNL” as a featured player, but Moffat and Villasenor have been with the program for some time. Both joined the series as a featured player in 2016. Moffat gained traction in recent years for his portrayal of an obnoxious playboy character on “Weekend Update.” Villasenor is known for her impressions and musical replications of celebrities ranging from Christina Aguilera and Owen Wilson to Britney Spears and Kirsten Wiig.

People will pay insane amounts of money for guitars, as long as they were played by someone COOL. Here’s a list from Loudwire.com of the most expensive guitars of all time:
- Kurt Cobain’s “MTV Unplugged” guitar: $6 million.
- David Gilmour’s Black Strat: $3.9 million.
- The ‘Reach Out to Asia’ Charity Fender Stratocaster: $2.7 Million.
(This one was auctioned off to raise money for victims of the tsunami in 2004. It was signed by Sting, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Jimmy Page, and Paul McCartney . . . just to name a few.) - John Lennon’s Gibson J-160E Acoustic-Electric: $2.4 Million.
- A 1959 Les Paul owned by both Peter Green and Gary Moore: $2 Million.
- Jimi Hendrix’s Woodstock Strat: $2 Million.
- Jerry Garcia’s Wolf Guitar: $1.9 Million.
- Bob Marley’s Custom Washburn Hawk: $1.2 Million.
- A 1958 Gibson Korina Explorer: $1.1 Million. This one wasn’t owned by anyone famous. It was just really rare.
- Keith Richards’ 1959 Les Paul: $1 Million.
Who played one of the most expensive guitars and got booed off stage with it? That honor would go to Bob Dylan, when he and his sunburst Stratocaster “went electric” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. That strat went for $965,000 at auction in 2013. Here’s part of that sloppy performance.
A waitress at a hotel in Brazil was fired for taking a video of Axl Rose standing on a balcony, waving to fans. Apparently, hotel staff were asked to not photograph the band.
She spoke to a local media outlet and said, quote, “I’m a big [Guns N’ Roses] fan. I served them with great emotion. It’s the best band of all time, it’s our story and that’s for us, it’s not fair.” She wasn’t kidding about being a fan, because she then showed her large lower back tattoo of the GnR logo with the crossing guns and roses. When other fans learned about her firing, they protested outside the hotel, asking management to forgive her. No word on if it actually worked (LINK)
Earlier this week, Mickey Dolenz asked the FBI to release any files it has on the Monkees, which seems a little weird. But the FBI has had an eye on tons of celebrities over the years, for various reasons. Here are some examples:
- John Denver: He went to an anti-war rally in 1971. He also did drugs.
- Helen Keller: She was a socialist.
- Jackie Robinson: For his civil rights work and suspected Communist ties.
- John Lennon and Yoko Ono: For their anti-war stance.
- Marilyn Monroe: They had an eye on her because Arthur Miller, her husband from 1956 to 1961, was a suspected Communist.
- Whitney Houston: Her file had to do with an attempted extortion plot against her . . . as well as some creepy attention she got from fans.
- Steve Jobs: They started a file on him when he was being considered for a presidential appointment in 1991.
- Princess Diana: There were two FBI files on her. One was for threats against her and Prince Charles when they were married, and the other was about security issues pertaining to her trip to the U.S. in 1989.
9. The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard also had files . . . and why? Some sources say it’s because they were young black men who were influential and loud

Former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has left the Chicago White Sox to go back to the Mayo clinic in Phoenix to be treated for an unspecified heart ailment, according to a USA Today report. The 77-year-old La Russa missed the first game of the White Sox’s series in Chicago with Kansas City and, before the second game started, traveled to Arizona on Wednesday night to undergo tests on Thursday, USA Today said, citing a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity. La Russa, the major leagues’ oldest manager, has one more year remaining on his three-year contract. La Russa is second to Connie Mack all-time among major-league managers with 2,884 victories. He won World Series titles with Oakland (1989) and the Cardinals in 2006 and 2011. La Russa also took two other Oakland teams to the World Series in 1988 and 1990 and one Cardinals team in 2004. Cardinals play the Cubs tonight at Busch with a start time of 715
With 47,653 in attendance for Mizzou’s first Thursday regular-season game since 2015, Mizzou football started their season off with a victory over LA TECH. That’s Louisiana Tech to those like me that didn’t know. The Tigers’ 52-24 victory over Louisiana Tech at Memorial Stadium obviously showed some great offense after a slow start but also had a great deal of good defense….mostly…
Gisele Bundchen apparently does NOT stand by Tom Brady’s decision to return to the NFL.
According to the “New York Post”, the two were fighting pretty hard about it, to the point where Gisele left the family home in Tampa and jetted to Costa Rica.
Will the split be permanent? A so-called “source” says this isn’t the first time they’ve had this argument, but they always make up.
If you recall, Tom took a mysterious 11-day break from training camp, and when he returned, he wouldn’t say where he’d been.
What he did say was, quote, “It’s all personal . . . everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with. We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of [stuff] going on.” Page Six is reporting that a source said: “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids. They had agreed he would retire to focus on the family, then he changed his mind.”
James Leroy (Lee) Thomas passed away at the age of 86. He was a Beaumont High star who hit 106 homers while playing eight seasons in the majors and then had huge success as the Cardinals director of player development and then went on to be general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. He passed at his Chesterfield home under hospice care on Wednesday morning after a long illness. Funeral arrangements are pending. Aaron Judge’s race to 61 (LINK) dingers this season isn’t the only big-time home run chase going on in MLB this year. As he prepares to wrap his illustrious, future Hall of Fame career, Albert Pujols is on the doorstep of 700 home runs, which would make him just the fourth member of the exclusive club. The three-time NL MVP’s pursuit for 700 will likely come ” down to the wire ,” but before he can get to that milestone, he’ll first have to pass Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez retired following the 2016 season and turned 47 in July, so a comeback seems unlikely. “A-Rod” has kept himself busy in retirement, serving as a broadcaster for FS1, a cast member of “Shark Tank” and working with ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball,” among other ventures.
The three-time AL MVP is also a part-owner of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.
