Producer HARVEY WEINSTEIN has been accused of sexually harassing numerous women over the past three decades . . . including ROSE MCGOWAN and ASHLEY JUDD. Harvey is a HUGE player in Hollywood. He and his brother BOB started Miramax, and now run The Weinstein Company. It’s pretty standard Hollywood stuff: Sleep with me and I’ll make you a star. A typical tactic he’s accused of using is that he would invite a woman up to his hotel room . . . supposedly for BUSINESS . . . then try to make her give him a massage and / or watch him take a shower. That’s what the “New York Times” says he did to Judd 20 years ago. But she didn’t give in . . . even though she was worried it could hurt her career. She says, quote, “I said no, a lot of ways, a lot of times, and he always came back at me with some new ask. It was all this bargaining, this coercive bargaining.” At least eight women have received settlements because of Harvey’s behavior, including McGowan, who pocketed $100,000. Her alleged incident happened in 1997, right after she did the movie “Scream” for his company. Harvey released a statement, saying that a lot of what the “Times” published ISN’T true. But he also admitted to some bad behavior, and he said he’s working on it. Quote, “I came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different . . . I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office or out of it. To anyone.” He apologized for any pain he’s caused, and said he’s putting together a “team”, including therapists, to help him. And he’s taking a leave of absence from the Weinstein Company.
Surprising pretty much no one, James Cameron’s Avatar franchise is about to become one of the most expensive series of films ever made. 21st Century Fox has apparently budgeted more than a billion dollars for Avatars 2, 3, 4, and 5. I didn’t see an exact number, but even at $250 million per film, Cameron’s new movies will be sitting just behind the others ($265 million after adjustments for inflation) on the list of the most expensive movies of all time. Put together, meanwhile, and they’ll easily blow past the competition for most expensive back-to-back shoot (the Hobbit trilogy, which cost $623 million). The original Avatar brought in nearly $3 billion at the box office.
Paramount Pictures has nabbed the movie rights to Sonic the Hedgehog, the popular SEGA video game franchise. Deadpool director Tim Miller is executive producing. The game was first released by SEGA in 1991, with the character becoming one of the world’s biggest gaming icons. More than 360 million copies, including both packaged and digital games, have been sold on various platforms. Paramount plans on making a movie that will blend live action and CGI animation as it brings Sonic to the big screen for the first time.
Netflix is raising its prices by 10% next month on most plans . . . and naturally people will be angry. But let’s face it, you’re going to pay, because . . . “Stranger Things”. The price hikes won’t affect ALL of their plans . . . but since they’re changing the most popular ones, most of their 53 million customers will be affected. So, subscribers who pay for the standard $9.99 service will be charged $10.99 . . . or $1 more per month. And the price of the premium tier will be raised 17%, from $11.99 to $13.99. The basic $7.99 plan is staying the same for now. It’s unclear if or how the old-school DVD plans will be affected. The new prices will go into effect in November. Netflix is officially notifying customers on October 19th, 30 days before they’ll have to pay the higher price. Season Two of “Stranger Things” hits Netflix on October 27th, and the timing is probably NOT a coincidence. If you’re planning to bail, that gives you less than a month to watch it before the cost goes up.
AUSTIN ROGERS has become that annoying guy on “Jeopardy!” who just won’t stop winning, no matter how badly you want him to. He is up over $300,000 now. How does he do it? He has become a big deal both positive and negative on social media as well
NFL protests against racial injustice and police brutality are a big topic right now. John Legend and Jesse Williams are bringing one of the most famous athlete protests to film. The two are executive producing a new documentary called “With Drawn Arms” about Olympic gold medalist and NFL wide receiver Tommie Smith and his Olympic protest. In 1968, Smith and John Carlos raised their fists in demonstration against racial discrimination during the national anthem after placing first and third in the 200-meter dash. Smith said afterwards. “Black America will understand what we did tonight.” A spokesman for the International Olympic Committee called the protest “a deliberate and violent breach of the fundamental principles of the Olympic spirit” and the two athletes were expelled from the Games, despite an initial refusal from the U.S. Olympic Committee. Smith and Carlos received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2008 ESPY Awards, 40 years after the Games.
Everybody knows that KATY PERRY is the big dog at ABC’s “American Idol” reboot . . . at least when it comes to salary. They gave her $25 MILLION before they even locked anybody else in. And sources say that caused some real drama. Even RYAN SEACREST is “only” getting $15 million. But there was major chaos when ABC tried to find two more judges with the money they had left. LIONEL RICHIE and LUKE BRYAN were originally offered $2.5 million . . . 10% of Katy’s salary. Naturally, they were offended, and demanded more. According to the “New York Post”, they ended up getting $7 million each.
About a week before Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington took his own life in July, the band had filmed an episode of Carpool Karaoke (the Apple Music series, not the The Late Late Show With James Corden segment it’s based on) Following Bennington’s death, though, the question was if the episode would air as a tribute to Bennington, or if it would remain in the vault out of respect for him and his family. Family was apparently the deciding factor. Bennington’s widow Talinda Bennington announced, along with the band, that “with all of our blessings,” the episode will air for free on the Linkin Park Facebook page at “this time next week,” so on October 12th at 10 a.m.Central if they’re being exact.

This week’s CD Releases include new music from Marilyn Manson, The Darkness, and a Christmas album from Gwen Stefani.
Last month, TYRESE pleaded with DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON over social media not to delay “Fast and Furious 9” in order to make a spin-off movie about his character. But on Wednesday, the news came down that “Fast 9” has been pushed from April of 2019 to April of 2020. And the spin-off, with The Rock and JASON STATHAM, might be coming in 2019. Not surprisingly, Tyrese is upset. Here’s what he posted after the announcement . . . quote, “Congratulations to The Rock . . . for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU. “Will this be another #BayWatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”
A decade has passed 3 but we are now finally closer than ever to a Rush Hour 4. Jack Chan confirmed it. He said after 7 years of bad scripts he finally agreed to one a few days ago. They want to start filming next year. They are just waiting on Chris Tucker to get on board. It’s apparently not money but scheduling. The first Rush Hour hit theaters in 1998 and spawned two more sequels released in 2001 and 2007. The films have grossed just under $850 million. A Rush Hour sitcom premiered on CBS in 2016 but was canceled after one season.
You guys recall Bobby Brown sued the producers of a tv movie about his kid Bobbi Christina Brown to try and keep the movie from airing. Brown claimed the movie was full of lies — depicting scenes of him abusing Whitney Houston and not loving Bobbi Kristina. The producers countered by saying Brown chronicled events like these in his own autobiography, “Every Little Step.” Well, The Bobbi Kristina TV movie will air as planned this weekend after a judge shot down Bobby Brown‘s effort to stop the film from airing. Brown still has claims of libel and slander that have yet to be ruled on. Sunday at 6pm on TV ONE.
The writers at Vulture.com binged HARRISON FORD movies recently, so that they could rank his 36 most notable performances. His starring role in the “Indiana Jones” movies is #1. His role as Han Solo in the “Star Wars” movies is #2 . . . followed by “The Mosquito Coast”, “Witness”, “The Fugitive”, and “American Graffiti”. But what’s REALLY fun is what they chose for his five WORST performances. The #1 spot for that went to “Expendables 3”. His 2003 movie “Hollywood Homicide” with Josh Hartnett is #2 . . . followed by “Firewall”, “Hanover Street”, “Cowboys and Aliens”, and “Heroes”.
American Express is suing IGGY AZALEA over unpaid credit card bills. She supposedly owes exactly $299,147.81. Iggy hasn’t commented, but she’s had bill problems in the past. In 2016, the IRS hit her with a $400,000 tax lien.
Puddle of Mudd‘s lead singer, Wes Scantlin, seems to have done almost a BOGO in court. He ending one case with a plea deal, and another with jail time … both in the same week. He pled in his 2016 vandalism case — when he allegedly trashed a bunch of stuff at his foreclosed Hollywood Hills home. He got off Monday with 3 years probation, but also has to pay more than $40k in fees. He followed up with a Thursday court date where he pled no contest in a case from last month when he was popped trying to board a plane with a BB gun. He got 20 days in jail, plus he’s gotta stay away from LAX unless it’s international travel for work.
Marilyn Manson claims he contracted a sexually transmitted infection the first time her ever had sex. Manson recalls the unfortunate incident while talking about his hometown of Canton, Ohio, in a new interview with Rolling Stone. “…I lost my virginity there, and got crabs at the same time,” he notes. “That is the terrible thing that is disqualified now by the fact that women tend to use laser hair removal or waxing, so it eliminates the risk of crabs. Who in 10th grade has crabs? I guess that unfortunate, s**tty cheerleader in Canton, Ohio.” Manson’s latest album Heaven Upside Down dropped today.
The Guns N’ Roses “Not In This Lifetime” reunion tour continues to be one of the most popular and lucrative in the world. With just 15 North American stadium shows this past summer, the band added $53 million in ticket sales to the trek’s overall gross, which is now believed to have passed the $300 million mark since its April 2016 launch. Pollstar reported earlier in the year that the trek was the most popular and highest-grossing global tour of 2017.
