Some are saying NBC’s logo for Super Bowl 56 looks like a logo for a CSI show. The logo has the Roman numerals LVI with palm trees in them . . . because the game is going down at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But the trees are RED . . . and it just looks like there’s BLOOD dripping down the letters. And yeah, Twitter’s got jokes.
DAMON ALBARN from BLUR and GORILLAZ felt the wrath of TAYLOR SWIFT. Because he tried to . . . and he learned his lesson. In an interview published Sunday, he went off on Taylor for supposedly not writing her own songs. He said, quote, “She doesn’t write her own songs. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes.” Taylor came blasting back on Twitter yesterday, saying, quote, “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really [effed] up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.” In the end, Damon gave in to Taylor, as we all must eventually. He said, quote, “I totally agree with you. I had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologize unreservedly and unconditionally. “The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand” (LINK)

WILL ARNETT’s new Netflix comedy “Murderville” comes out February 3rd, and it’s got an interesting twist. The guests include Sharon Stone, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Annie Murphy from “Schitt’s Creek”, Kumail Nanjiani, and NFL stud Marshawn Lynch (LINK)

Within 5 minutes of yesterday’s game against the Flames, Tyler Bozak had the Blues up 1-0. And…that was all the scoring the Blues dude…as far as the Flames…that’s a different story. They followed up with three goals in the first and four goals in the third and yes…the final score was 7-1. The Flames had 48 shots on goal vs the Blues 21. It was ugly. Everything about the game was ugly. Ville Husso came in as relief to Jordan Binnington in the 3rd and stopped all 13 shots he faced. Up next for the Blues? A rematch against the Flames at Enterprise Center for Rizz Show Night at the Blues game. Puck drop on Thursday is scheduled for 7:00PM.
New Jersey Devils defenseman P.K. Subban on Sunday night addressed an incident involving an alleged racist taunt aimed at his brother, Jordan Subban, in a minor-league game Saturday in Florida. The ECHL indefinitely suspended Jacksonville Icemen defenseman Jacob Panetta, pending a hearing, for what Jordan Subban, a South Carolina Stingrays defenseman who is Black, said was a racist taunt. The Icemen later announced they released Panetta. The ECHL game was in overtime when a skirmish between the teams started after a collision with one of the goalies. According to Jordan Subban, he tried to engage Panetta in a fight. Panetta responded by allegedly taunting him. If you watch in the videos – Panetta makes money gestures towards Subban – who is black. The two fought while surrounded by players from both teams. They received major penalties and misconduct penalties that sent them to their locker rooms. Jordan Subban’s teammate Nico Blachman left the Stingrays bench to punch Panetta and was also given a game misconduct. Stingray’s team president Rob Concannon said in a statement that his organization was “appalled by the incident.” P.K Subban said that he is embarrassed for the state of the sport.
After the Rams secured their spot in the NFC championship game by hanging on for dear life in a 30–27 win over the Buccaneers, the attention immediately shifted to the rematch with division rival San Francisco. Fans scrambled to the secondary markets to find tickets for the game, only to find a catch—not everybody could buy them. A notice on Ticketmaster informed users that only those with a Los Angeles-based zip code could purchase tickets to SoFi Stadium, seemingly as a reaction to the heavy presence of San Francisco fans when the two teams met up in Los Angeles for Week 18. A day later, that notice has been removed, opening the doors for fans of the 49ers to once again get into the game. The Rams said in a statement that tickets for the game were sold out during a presale over the weekend, which is why the restriction has been lifted. Ticketmaster said that the restriction was implemented at the discretion of the Rams.
Former Gonzaga and Utah Jazz star John Stockton had his season tickets to Bulldogs games suspended after he failed to comply with the school’s mask mandates. He said QUOTE: “Basically, it came down to, they were asking me to wear a mask to the games and being a public figure, someone a little bit more visible, I stuck out in the crowd a little bit. And therefore they received complaints and felt like from whatever the higher-ups they were going to have to either ask me to wear a mask or they were going to suspend my tickets.” Stockton, who is anti-vaccination and opposes mask mandates, made a number of false claims in a documentary last year including that over 100 athletes have died from vaccination.

Rafael Nadal stayed on track for a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam singles title with a win over Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Tuesday at Melbourne Park. Nadal is tied for the most major singles titles by a male player with Roger Federer, who is not playing here due to continuing recovery from right knee surgery, and Novak Djokovic, who was deported before the tournament began over visa issues concerning his decision not to be vaccinated against COVID-19. On the ladies side, Madison Keys moves on and she will take on Ashleigh Barty in the semis.
Fans at the Australian Open were asked by security to remove T-shirts which featured the slogan “Where is Peng Shuai?” on Saturday. A video shared to social media appeared to show officers confiscating the clothing, which referenced the uncertainty surrounding the well-being and whereabouts of the Chinese star who had accused a top Chinese leader of sexual assault. In a statement to ESPN, Tennis Australia said that its “primary concern” is the safety of Peng but that fans are not allowed to bring onto the grounds or display political statements at the tournament.
At least eight people died and 38 were injured in a crush outside a stadium hosting an Africa Cup of Nations soccer game in Cameroon. The crush happened as crowds struggled to get access to the stadium to watch the host country play Comoros Islands in a last-16 knockout game in Africa’s top football tournament. Witnesses at the stadium said children were among those caught up in the crush. The witnesses said it happened when stadium stewards closed the gates and stopped allowing people in. Officials at the nearby hospital said they had received at least 40 injured people from the stampede. Officials said about 50,000 people had tried to attend the match. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000, but it was not meant to be more than 80% full for the game because of restrictions on the size of the crowd amid the coronavirus pandemic. A spokesman said: “There was the kind of stampede we witness everywhere where there are these kinds of large crowd movements. We are waiting for more information on the victims.”
