KAREN FUKUHARA from the Amazon series “The Boys” says she was the victim of an Anti-Asian hate crime. Karen says she was walking down the street on her way to get coffee, when a man struck her on the back of the head for no reason as they passed each other. She turned around to face him, but didn’t say anything because she was afraid to confront him.  But he started yelling at her. She says, quote, “This is the first time I’ve been harmed physically, although racial slurs and hurtful actions have been directed to me in the past.” She added, quote, “This [stuff] needs to stop.”

There are 18 people sick on the set of NCIS as of yesterday. They haven’t shut down production yet but obviously we all know what the illness is…food poisoning. That’s according to CBS. Nothing has been confirmed (LINK)

Amazon closed a deal yesterday, buying MGM (LINK) for $8.5 BILLION.  Here’s just a rough idea of what they get. All of the James Bond films, “2001: A Space Odyssey”, “Gone with the Wind”, “The Wizard of Oz”, “Singing in the Rain”, “Fame”, the “Halloween” franchise, and all the “Rocky” movies, including both “Creed” movies

Wolfgang Van Halen worked a special tribute to his late father into his first-ever signature guitar. Wolfgang stopped by the house to chat about his first name and he also mentioned the guitar. This was on Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett’s podcast Walking the Floor.

Kanye West’s behavior lately has raised the ire of the Coachella crowd. Under the alias “Kim Pete,” someone launched a Change.org petition saying organizers “should be ashamed of themselves” for giving West “any more of a platform” to spew hate toward his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now,” reads the petition, which amassed more than 1,650 signatures by Thursday afternoon. The petition was created on the same day that Kanye was suspended by Instagram 24 hours after constantly went after Kim and Pete and DL Hughly and even Trevor Noah (LINK)

Why’d ya have to go and make things so complicated   The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is rejecting DOLLY PARTON’s request to be removed from this year’s nominations.  They posted a statement on social media.  Here are some highlights: “From its inception, Rock & Roll has had deep roots in Rhythm & Blues and Country music.  It’s not defined by any one genre, rather a sound that moves youth culture.  Dolly’s music impacted a generation of young fans and influenced countless other artists that followed.”  They also admitted they’re too far into the process, and can’t shove it into reverse.  Quote, “Dolly’s nomination, along with the other 16 for the class, was [already] sent out to our 1,200 general ballot voters.”   They closed it out with a compliment, because, of course.  Quote, “We are in awe of Dolly’s brilliant talent and pioneering spirit and are proud to have nominated her for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” (LINK)

I guess Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a stage play currently. It’s a Harry Potter thing so let’s assume there will or is talk of turning it into a movie. Harry Potter himself has already said no thanks. He will always be seen as Harry. But he isn’t interested at least right now. And don’t bring up the Star Wars cast reuniting for a gazillion movies. According to him that cast had a lot more time in between ending and rebooting. Its been about 10 years for Potter.

Sports Report 1

Last night the Blues were on the ice for the first time since Sunday as they hosted the Penguins at Enterprise Center.  The Penguins were up 2-0 by ½ way through the second and David Perron ended up scoring to cut the lead in half.  Then, in the 3rd, Ivan Barbashev scored just under 2 minutes in to tie things up…and that was all in regulation.  In OT no goals were scored so we headed to shootouts.  Only one goal was scored in the shooutout, and unfortunately, it was not from the Blues so they pick up the 3-2 loss.  Up next a game against the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Saturday.  Puck drops at 4PM.

It turns out Aaron Rodgers’ return to the Green Bay Packers didn’t mean the same thing for Davante Adams. Just days after Rodgers signed his blockbuster contract extension to return, Adams, his favorite target, left town in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are sending the Packers their first-round pick (No. 22 overall) and second-round pick (No. 53) in this year’s draft. That gives the Packers four picks in the top 60; they also own picks Nos. 28 and 59. Rodgers was aware of the developments with Adams, who preferred to play elsewhere rather than return to Green Bay for a contract and pay structure similar to his deal with the Raiders.  Also – the Rams signed WR Allen Robinson to a 3-year deal…which had Odell Beckham Jr concerned about his status with LA.  According to sources, there is a chance he could also be re-signed on a one year deal.  Cole Beasley from the Bills was also released yesterday.

The race to trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is down to the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints after the Carolina Panthers were informed on Thursday they were out of the running. The Cleveland Browns were informed earlier Thursday that they also were out.  And for Cleveland, they may just be seeking elsewhere anywhere, Baker Mayfield HAS requested to be traded from Cleveland.   The Falcons on Thursday pushed back the $7.5 million roster bonus due to quarterback Matt Ryan from Friday to Tuesday. The move gives Atlanta four extra days to hear Watson’s decision and be able to trade Ryan if necessary.

In the biggest upset of the 2022 NCAA tournament thus far, No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s pulled off the biggest win in school history, stunning No. 2 seed Kentucky 85–79 in overtime. Kentucky, as a two seed, was actually heavily favored to be in the finals. The Peacocks now advance to the round of 32 for the first time in school history, where they will face the winner of No. 10 San Francisco and No. 7 Murray State.  Also in the world of upsets, 11th Michigan beat 6th ranked Colorado State and Richmond – a 12 seed – knocked off 5th seeded Iowa.  More action today…things start with Loyola-Chicago vs. Ohio State at 11:15AM.  How many perfect brackets remain?  According to ESPN, 743.  That’s it.  That’s .004% of all the brackets filled out.

Lia Thomas is a national champion. Thomas, who is a transgender woman, touched the wall in 4 minutes, 33.24 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday night to become the first known transgender athlete to win a Division I national championship in any sport. Thomas finished 1.75 seconds ahead of second-place Emma Weyant, who attends Virginia. Thomas’ time was a season best and a little more than 9 seconds off of Katie Ledecky’s record. As she stood on the podium with her trophy, she flashed a peace sign, just as she did for her four Ivy League championships. And once again, the crowd was noticeably quiet as she was announced as the champion.

WNBA star Britney Griner will continue to serve time in a Russian detention center.  A Moscow court ruled that Griner’s detention would be extended until May 19th.  Griner was detained at a Moscow airport in February. Authorities said Griner had a vape cartridge containing cannabis oil. The maximum penalty is ten years in jail.  The U.S. State Department is trying to get Griner released and sent back to America
