Scarlett Johansson says she is done with the Marvel Universe films. In a recent episode of Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Good Podcast’ the two actresses reflected on their time working for Marvel – Scarlett as Black Widow and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts in Iron Man. When asmed about whether Johansson was done with Marvel she confirmed, the chapter has come to an end, saying quote: “Chapter is over. I kind of did all that I had to do. Also, coming back and playing a character again and again like that, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”

Sports Report 1

St. Louis City SC’s game with Colorado on Saturday was one it should have lost but almost won because of a brilliant game by its goalie, Roman Burki. In the end, City did neither. City SC allowed a late goal and tied the Colorado Rapids 1-1 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. Burki made a season-high 12 saves, the most in MLS this season and three off the league regular-season record. City SC also got a scare in the second half when its leading scorer Joao Klauss went down briefly. He came out of the game in the 60th minute. Roman Burki’s play in goal gets City SC a tie, but he’s disappointed in play of team’s defense (stltoday.com)

Gorman’s tie-breaking homerun took the Cardinals toward a 7-3 victory against Seattle at T-Mobile Park. The Cardinals have won only two series so far this season and have yet to win the first game of any series. All three runs allowed by Flaherty came in the second inning, and from there the right-hander was at his best. He retired 12 of the next 13 batters. The Cardinals’ had three homers in the series finale including a solo homer from shortstop Paul DeJong to highlight his return to the majors and a three-hit afternoon. Once Jack Flaherty found his groove, Nolan Gorman launched Cardinals to win in Seattle (stltoday.com)

The XFL’s 40-game regular season — four games per week for 10 weeks — ended Sunday night, and it took all 40 to decide which team got the fourth and final playoff berth. The Seattle Sea Dragons entered their Sunday night matchup with the Vegas Vipers knowing they’d need to at least win to match the St. Louis Battlehawks’ 7-3 record. The Sea Dragons got the win, 28-9, as well as the final playoff berth, with the deciding factor amazingly coming down to the fifth point in the XFL’s list of playoff tiebreakers. Seattle’s win knocked out the Battlehawks, who got an absolute monster effort from A.J. McCarron on Saturday. A.J. McCarron may not have been an NFL star, but he’s been an absolute beast in the XFL. The Battlehawks quarterback threw SIX touchdown passes on Saturday, going 28 of 35 for 420 yards. McCarron appears to be the frontrunner for XFL MVP. In a game with a playoff berth potentially on the line, all St. Louis did was score 53 points. McCarron’s six TDs gave him 24 for the year. It’s the most any XFL quarterback has thrown in any of the league’s three seasons

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are living out the plot of ‘Ted Lasso’ in real life — ’cause their British soccer team just got bumped up to a whole new level of competition. Wrexham won their match Saturday against Boreham Wood to come from behind and secure a 3-1 victory — which guarantees them a promotion from the National League (the level 5 league in which they’d been playing of late) to the next tier … League Two (4th tier). If they get three more promotions … Wrexham would be playing in the English Premier League alongside mega teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, etc.

The Oakland A’s are moving to Las Vegas . . . and nobody is more flabbergasted by the news than Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao. Thao had no indication that the team was closing in on a land deal in Vegas until she got a call at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. She says, quote, “There’s many things that could have been done differently including bargaining in good faith from the A’s side . . . “Working on negotiations in one city where your home base [is] and then doing what you are doing in Las Vegas and then calling me at 6:00 p.m. saying we have a land deal without letting me know there was parallel track, that’s a bit disingenuous.”  (CBS News)

Odell Beckham Jr. has been named as a suspect in an assault investigation after a woman went to police claiming the NFL superstar put his hand around her neck in an L.A. hotspot, but the Ravens WR claims the allegations are bogus.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports the alleged incident went down at Delilah several weeks back … when a woman says 30-year-old OBJ went up to her and grabbed her throat with light pressure. However, a rep for Odell told us they weren’t aware of any investigation and hadn’t been contacted by police. They also vehemently denied Beckham Jr. did anything wrong.

Sources say after the alleged altercation, both the woman and Odell remained at the venue throughout the night without further incident. A few days later, police met with the accuser and she filed a report. The allegations come just days after OBJ was announced as the newest star wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens … inking a one-year deal worth up to $18 million. Odell — a first-round pick in 2014 — is slated to make his big return to the field this season — he missed all of 2022 after tearing his ACL in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals. www.Tmz.com
