RAY LIOTTA died (LINK) yesterday in the Dominican Republic. Ray was down there filming a movie called “Dangerous Waters”. He passed away in his sleep, but there’s no word on the cause of death. We literally don’t have time to list all of Ray’s movies, but they include “Goodfellas”, “Field of Dreams”, “Cop Land”, and “Blow”. Ray is survived by his fiancée and a daughter he shared with his ex-wife. Some big names in Hollywood checked in about his death. Robert De Niro said, quote, “I was very saddened to learn of Ray’s passing. He is way too way young to have left us.” Jennifer Lopez posted a message on Instagram saying, quote, “I will always remember our time together fondly. We lost a great today … RIP RAY … it’s so sad to lose you what seems way [too] soon … I will remember you always.” He was 67 years old.
And unfortunately, you know the saying…death comes in threes. Two deaths to report from the rock world this morning. DEPECHE MODE announced that keyboardist and founding member ANDY FLETCHER passed away. He was 60 years old. There are no further details yet. Also…YES drummer ALAN WHITE has died (LINK), after what the band called a “short illness”. He was 72.
Kelly Clarkson announced her fan-favorite ‘Kellyoke’ segment from ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ has been turned into an EP. It’s the opening segment of the talk show, dubbed “Kellyoke,” Kelly hits the stage and belts out a cover of a song made famous by another musical great. One of the best parts of the show! Kelly always nails them! The performances always leave viewers wanting more and now, they’re about to get it. On June 9, Kelly is set to release a new EP called Kellyoke, which will feature six full-length covers. These popular covers made the cut! Linda Ronstadt’s “Blue Bayou,” The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name,” Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night,” Shaed’s “Trampoline” and Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended its 19-year run Thursday with an emotional finale for its pioneering host. DeGeneres welcomed final guests singers Billie Eilish and P!nk, and Jennifer Aniston who appeared on the show’s Sept. 8, 2003, debut. On Thursday’s finale, Ellen walked out to a standing ovation from an audience that included her wife, Portia de Rossi. Ellen took in the moment before getting into her monologue. Ellen then got into the fact that when she started the show, she wasn’t even allowed to say the word let alone reference the fact that she was gay. If you’ve seen the show, you know she dances after the monologue and the crowd joins her. And then, at the end of the show, she wrapped things up with this
The new season of “Stranger Things” dropped TODAY . . . and yesterday, Netflix tacked a last-minute warning onto the first episode, thanks to the elementary school shooting in Texas. The warning states that the first scene contains violence involving children and, quote, “given the recent tragic shooting at a school in Texas, viewers may find the opening scene of episode 1 distressing. “We are deeply saddened by this unspeakable violence, and our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one.”

We are going to talk about OZARK and what I am going to say is a giant spoiler. So, if you aren’t finished with the newest season, punch out for a few. Count to 100 and then come back. At the end of “Ozark”, it seems like the Byrde family makes out okay. But JASON BATEMAN isn’t so sure. When asked where the characters would ultimately end up, he said, quote, “They’d either be dead or in prison. It’s good for them that the camera shut off now.” He added, quote, “There’s something sticky about [the ending]. Because once we fade to black, we see that they got away with it but at what cost?” That being said, Jason would return to the show “in a second,” because everyone had so much fun making it.
Yesterday I mentioned the Winnie the Pooh horror movie. Well we have a LITTLE more info on it. And this is from the director. The plot sounds kind of like “Toy Story” gone very, very wrong. Basically, Pooh and Piglet go on a bloody rampage because Christopher Robin has abandoned them to go to college. Quote, “Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: They’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.” There’s still no release date, but the movie’s already filmed, and Waterfield is trying to get it done ASAP . . . especially after those pictures went viral on Wednesday.
Another musician has sold their music catalog and this time its someone that is much younger than everyone else. 41-year-old JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE just did it, and he pocketed a reported $100 MILLION. The deal only covers Justin’s publishing rights, so it only includes songs he had a hand in writing . . . which pretty much excludes his N’ SYNC material. But it still covers around 200 songs. And – young artists are jumping on this trend. JT isn’t the first. THE CHAINSMOKERS and SHAKIRA have sold their catalogs to the same company Justin sold to . . . an outfit called Hipgnosis Song Management.
The U.S. Navy lent Tom Cruise F/A-18 Super Hornets for the new “Top Gun” – which rules. However, the studio paid as much as $11,000 an hour to use the advanced fighter planes and Cruise couldn’t even touch the controls. Tom is famous for performing his own stunts and insisted that all the actors portraying pilots in Top Gun: Maverick fly in one of the fighter jets so they could understand what it feels like to be a pilot operating under the strain of gravitational forces. Something Tom did for the original Top Gun. Tom ended up flying more than a dozen times for the new movie, but the government bars non-military personnel from controlling a Defense Department asset. Instead, the actors rode behind F/A-18 pilots after completing required training on how to eject from the plane in an emergency and how to survive at sea. The Super Hornet, a jet known as the “Rhino,” gets top billing in the movie because that’s what the movie’s script called for, Roberts said.
I don’t think there is any denying this…Kanye West is rich. End of story right? However, is he so rich that he hasn’t touched money in a while? And were talking paper money. Bills. A video surfaced on Thursday featuring Ye and a woman having a conversation. The lady pulled out a wad of cash. Ye responded, “You want me to pose with that?” He then said, After Kanye shrugged, an onlooker said, “That’s real wealth.”
AMBER HEARD took the stand yesterday for the final time in her defamation battle against JOHNNY DEPP, and told the court what a NIGHTMARE her life has been since the trial started. She said she’s received THOUSANDS of death threats . . . some of which were directed at her 1-year-old daughter. Quote, “I am harassed, humiliated, threatened every single day. People want to put my baby in the microwave, and they tell me that. Johnny threatened . . . promised me . . . that if I ever left him he’d make me think of him every single day that I’ve lived.” Closing arguments begin this morning, then the case goes to the jury.
An LA Superior Court judge has dismissed the abuse lawsuit made by Marilyn Manson’s former assistant, Ashley Walters on statute of limitations grounds. Walters is one of many women who filed a suit against Manson, alleging sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual battery, and more. The judge ruled that she waited too long to file her suit based on claims made in 2010 and 2011.
Accusations against Kevin Spacey have turned into charges in the UK. Yesterday, the actor was charged with four counts of sexual assault between 2005 and 2013. Spacey allegedly assaulted three men. A fifth count was added for “causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.” Spacey was removed from the Netflix series House of Cards after allegations in 2017. In 2018, Spacey was charged with an indecent assault in Rhode Island. The charge and the civil case were eventually dropped.
Steven Tyler’s most recent rehab stint is not his first. The Aerosmith singer was famous for his hard-partying ways in the 70’s – once estimating he’d spent a TON of money on cocaine over the course of his career. While Tyler has tried to live sober since 1980, he’s relapsed multiple times – most recently after undergoing surgery earlier this year. Here is a clip from a 2013 interview where he discussed his drug use.

Did you see this photo that went viral last week? On Day Two of the PGA Championship, someone snapped a picture of Tiger Woods’ second shot on the first hole. And it went viral because all the fans behind him were on their phones filming it . . . except for ONE GUY clutching a Michelob Ultra. (Here’s the photo .) He was totally in the moment, focused on Tiger’s shot. So people loved it. And it turns out the bigwigs at Michelob Ultra did too. They tracked him down . . . and just gave him his own ENDORSEMENT deal. They’re calling him “The Michelob Guy” and selling merch (LINK) with his photo on it. They thought it worked well with the slogan they’ve been using for a while: “It’s Only Worth It If You Enjoy It.” And there’s even talk of a commemorative beer can (LINK). The guy’s real name is Mark Radetic, and he’s a certified public accountant from Kansas City. He just did an interview with a local news channel in St. Louis and said the whole experience has been pretty crazy. He said Michelob wants to do an entire ad campaign around him, but it doesn’t sound like he’s in it for the money. As compensation, they’re offering access to more PGA events . . . as well as, quote, “copious amounts” of free beer.

(Here’s the merch (LINK). That beer he was holding cost $18, by the way. So they really SHOULD pay him!)
Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina made their 313th start together, but lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3. Wainwright who’s 40 looking for his fourth consecutive win, allowed 10 hits for the first time since his final start of the 2019 season when he game up 12 to the Chicago Cubs. Wainwright’s record dropped to 5-4. Cards take on the Brewers again from Busch tonight at 7:15 (LINK)
The Yankees announced Thursday that they have signed free agent left-handed hitter Matt Carpenter. They immediately added Carpenter to the active roster, as there were openings due to injuries. Carpenter, 36, has 1,329 regular-season games and 11 years of MLB experience and those all came with the Cardinals. Get this, Carpenter’s previous contract had an $18.5 million option for 2022 that the Cardinals bought out last November, making him a free agent. He signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers but was granted his release last week after being unable to earn a promotion to the majors (LINK)
The Edmonton Oilers advance to Western Conference Final on Connor McDavid’s overtime winner vs. Flames.
McDavid’s goal capped a wild and controversial 5-4 victory for the Oilers over the Flames in the first meeting between the Albertan rivals in the playoffs in over 30 years. The controversy was a goal reversal where a Flames player seemed to kick the puck across the line and people were freaking out saying it was going in any way.
Pretty interesting play to watch in slo mo and try to break down actually. Video of it will be on the blog (LINK)

Colin Kaepernick spent nearly five hours with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, working through drills and meeting with coaches and team executives. When it was all over, two sources characterized the visit as having been a fruitful workout and an open line of communication as the Raiders continue to evaluate their quarterbacks heading into next season. They said Kaepernick was in “great” physical shape and threw the ball with considerable arm strength, comparable to the balance of his six-year NFL career to this point, sources said. He also had good meetings during his visit. As it stands, the Raiders are set at starting quarterback with Derek Carr, who signed a three-year $121.5 million extension this offseason (LINK)
