This is one way to get out of jury duty.  As attorneys were trying to find jurors for the Blac Chyna defamation trial against the Kardashian family, one man gave a good reason why he couldn’t serve.  When lawyers asked the jury pool if they had strong feelings about reality TV, the man said he had never seen The Kardashians, but he had seen Kim Kardashian’s sex tape from years ago. The guy said he couldn’t be an impartial juror because he’d be “replaying that sex tape over and over again.” Blac Chyna is suing the Kardashians for millions of dollars, claiming the family blocked her from making money with her own reality show. Chyna shares a child with Rob Kardashian.

The company that produced the Alec Baldwin film, Rust, has been slapped with a nearly $137,000 fine for “willful and serious” workplace safety violations that lead to the accidental shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. New Mexico Occupational Health and Safety Bureau said “There were serious management failures and more than sufficient evidence to suggest that if standard industry practices were followed, the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutching and the serious injury to Joel Souza would not have occurred.” The Bureau added, “This is the highest level of citation and maximum fine allowable by state law in New Mexico.” The production company was “cited for the plain indifference to the recognized hazards associated with the use of firearms on set that resulted in a fatality, severe injury, and unsafe working conditions.”

JESSICA SIMPSON filmed an ad for Flonase allergy relief, and posted some clips on her Instagram Story.  And now people are worried about her. They’re saying she seemed “fidgety” and was slurring her words.  It was also pretty obvious that she was reading a script, and her eyes were kind of darting all over the place. Some even thought it was “painful” to watch, while others wondered if she was on something. But if you listen to just the audio and not watch it she seems ok (LINK)

CHRISTOPHER WALKEN is god-like here in the U.S.  But maybe the Brits don’t feel the same way.  Walken is over there doing a TV series called “The Outlaws”, and during a day off, he wanted to visit Stonehenge.  So his co-star STEPHEN MERCHANT took him. Christopher asked a woman if he could touch one of the stones, and she told him NO. So Stephen took the woman aside and said, quote, “He’s 78 years old.  He’s an Academy Award winner.  He’s Christopher Walken.  He’s come 3,000 miles.  These things have been here 5,000 years.  You can’t just let him touch a stone? But she STILL said no. Stephen says, quote, “It was so typically British that even someone like Christopher Walken can’t touch the stones . . . That’s not how we roll in England.” (LINK)

“USA Today” is running its annual Save Our Shows poll, where they take a bunch of shows that are in danger of cancellation, and let you vote which ones should get renewed Not that this poll has any actual influence.  Last year’s winner was “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”, and NBC canceled it anyway . . . although the Roku Channel brought it back with a Christmas movie. This year’s early frontrunners are “Magnum, P.I.” and “A Million Little Things”. “Big Sky”“The Conners”“United States of Al”, and the Mayim Bialik sitcom “Call Me Kat” are also getting a lot of love

David Lee Roth has weighed in on the recent Van Halen tribute tour rumors.  Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted said Alex Van Halen called him six months after Eddie Van Halen died and proposed a Van Halen “tribute tour” with the two of them and guitarist Joe Satriani.  Newsted said the idea just eventually “kinda fizzled out.”  Then, Satriani said that he had been talking to Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth about “a tour, something like that — that was going to be a true tribute to Eddie and the Van Halen legacy.”  Former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth has chimed in, telling a Van Halen fan site “In my mind, ‘Van Halen 4k,’ in the age of COVID is going to require two of us for every position. Joe Satriani and Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and Newsted, Alex Van Halen or Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.” When mentioning his own onstage counterpart, Roth skipped over former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar, saying “Probably the only one who could do my job is Pink.”

The Blues are in action tonight in San Jose against the Sharks.  Their recent win streak of 9 games ended on Tuesday against the Bruins.  This is the final 5 games for the Blues who are already in the playoffs and now just playing for home ice advantage.  Faceoff tonight is scheduled for 9:30PM.

Last night Alex Ovechkin scored his 49th and 50th goal of the season.  And despite the teams loss in overtime, Ovechkin still managed to hit 50 goals in a season for the 9th time in his career.  That ties him for the most times doing so in NHL history. Ovechkin, 36, is now the oldest player in NHL history to score 50 goals in a season. And he joined Phil Esposito as the only players with three 50-goal seasons at age 30 or older. Since the Capitals star debuted in 2005-06, no one else has more than two 50-goal seasons in that span.

Last night the Cards and the Marlins were scoreless going into the 9th.  It was a real pitchers duel.  But, Nolan Arenado made sure that was no longer the case when he stepped to the plate and hit a 2-run homer to not only break the tie, but eventually that was your game winner.  Genesis Cabrera picked up the win.  Tonight the Cards and Marlins are back at it.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:40PM and Jordan Hicks gets the start.

For the past few months, the San Francisco 49ers have repeatedly said they’d like to keep wide receiver Deebo Samuel for a long time. On Wednesday, it became clear that Samuel and the Niners don’t quite see things the same way. Samuel, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract said that he has asked the 49ers to trade him. Samuel declined to offer specific reasons for requesting the trade but acknowledged that he has informed the team of his desire to leave. That comes on the heels of what has become an increasingly turbulent relationship between the two sides following Samuel’s breakout 2021 season. In recent weeks, Samuel has scrubbed any mention of the 49ers from his Instagram account, unfollowed the team and removed most photos of him in the team’s uniform from the platform.

Dwayne Haskins’ panicked wife called police the morning of the QB’s death saying she was concerned for her husband after he had been stranded on the highway looking for gas. In the 911 call she says she was calling from Pittsburgh and roughly 10 minutes after they spoke she couldn’t reach him. She told the dispatch officer that Dwayne had called her from the side of the road claiming his car had left him stranded, and he was walking to try to find gas. In the audio, she can be heard saying, “He said he was going to call me back after he finished putting the gas in,” but she says he never called back. Dwayne was killed after he was struck by a dump truck while walking on the highway in Florida. Cops have not released further details surrounding the incident, saying an investigation is ongoing. Dwayne was just 24 years old (LINK)

Last night we saw another impressive performance from STL’s own Jayson Tatum as the Celtics beat the Nets and lead that series 2-0.  The 76ers are now just one win away from eliminating the Raptors.  The Bulls tied things up against the Bucks last night as well.  Tonight we have the Grizzlies and Timberwolves in Game 3.  Same for the Mavs and Jazz.  And the Nuggets and Warriors play game 3 with Golden State up 2-0.

Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright is retiring after 21 seasons as head men’s basketball coach at Villanova, a shocking move that comes just weeks after he led the Wildcats to the Final Four. Villanova said Wright will begin a new role as special assistant to the university’s president. Fordham’s Kyle Neptune, who spent 10 years under Wright as a video coordinator and an assistant coach, will take over as Villanova’s head coach.

Vanderbilt’s Scotty Pippen Jr. announced Monday on social media that he is entering the 2022 NBA draft and plans on hiring an agent. Pippen is the son of Chicago Bulls legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen. The younger Pippen arrived at Vanderbilt as a 3-star prospect in the class of 2019 and made a big impact. The junior averaged 20.4 points in 36 games for Vanderbilt, and set a school record with 736 total points this season. Good luck to Pippen Jr. in the upcoming NBA draft.

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has been accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles against him and his tequila brand, Casa Mexico. A woman who is a former employee of Casa Mexico alleges in the filing that De La Hoya sexually harassed and sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions.  According to the filing, Casa Mexico organized an event in Mexico to visit the brand’s distillery in March 2020. The former employee alleges that on the first night there she awoke to De La Hoya knocking on her hotel room door. When she opened the door, she said she saw De La Hoya with his pants down around his ankles. She claims he forced his way into her room and got into her bed. Per the suit, the woman pushed him out of her bed and walked him back to his room. The next morning when De La Hoya failed to show up for a scheduled meeting to tour the distillery, the woman claims she went to his room to wake him and alleges De La Hoya pulled her into his bed and sexually assaulted her. Shortly after her return to LA after the trip, the woman says she attended a company party at a restaurant where some people ended up at De La Hoya’s home afterward. When De La Hoya was alone with the woman, she alleges that he “revealed and retrieved a sexual object from a stored collection in his house,” per the filing.  Then the woman says he “forcibly inserted the sexual object into her body.” The woman says she told Casa Mexico executives, but they did nothing to discipline De La Hoya. She says, per the complaint, that she feared retribution from the company if she spoke out about the alleged abuse.

A Texas junior college pitcher tackled a hitter who had just hit a home run during a game between host Weatherford College and North Central Texas College. In the top of the sixth inning of a seven-inning matchup, North Central hit the go-ahead home run and as the hitter rounded the bases,  the pitcher from Weatherford SPRINTED TOWARDS HIM AND CRUSHED HIM.   It’s not clear what caused it all to go down. Neither school could be reached for comment. The schools said they are investigating the incident. Umpires suspended the game after the tackle and ensuing brawl. The game was the first in a scheduled four-game series (LINK)
