Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello believes a lot of young musicians don’t work hard enough and are looking for an easy way to get famous and he hates the lack of guitar in popular music, and lack of work ethic. “I’m disgusted by the fact that a lot of young people these days aren’t willing to sit down and practice the electric guitar for eight hours a day,” said Morello. “They are all looking for an easier route to becoming famous. Look at the Top 50 songs on the radio in the U.S. — there are no guitar solos in them.” Morello also conceded that guitar solos are not likely to help a young musician hit the charts anyway. “In this current climate, there really is no record industry,” he said. “If a new Metallica or a new Rage Against the Machine came along, there’s not the apparatus to shove it down the world’s throat that there was 20 or 25 years ago.” He also once described his practice schedule: “There was a time I would practice 8 hrs a day, every day. 2 hrs just technique & scales, 2 hrs music theory, 2 hrs learning songs & writing songs, and 2 hrs just jamming along with random radio stations and improvising over chord progressions.”

Major League Baseball expects to offer a return-to-play proposal to the MLB Players Association within a week, as teams have begun to encourage players to prepare for a “spring” training that could begin in mid-June and a season that could start in early July. Although a bunch of hurdles remain and some industry leaders believe June and July return dates are optimistic, ownership’s approval of a plan and talking about specifics with the union would mark two vital steps toward baseball’s return. Some teams have suggested that players prepare for a spring training that could begin as early as June 10 and a season that could begin July 1.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the league’s 32 teams this week that they’ll be allowed to release the schedule a full half-hour early on their individual team websites. “For the first-time ever, each club may release its own game schedule on its owned and operated media platforms at 6:30 p.m. CST, 30 minutes before the NFL Network Schedule Release show begins at 8:00 p.m. Clubs can choose to release their schedule in any appropriate way they choose, while prominently promoting the national NFL Network Schedule Release show to follow, during which the full schedule will be released, analyzed and discussed.”
The NFL has laid out a plan for all 32 teams to have their facilities prepared to be reopened by Friday, May 15. If there’s one NFL team this offseason that’s constantly being listed as a potential landing spot for free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown, it’s the Baltimore Ravens, and that’s not by accident. Over the past month, Brown and Lamar Jackson have both made it pretty clear that they would love to see Brown sign with the Ravens. Of course, before that can happen, Jackson is going to have get his general manager on board with the idea of signing the troubled receiver. The good news for Jackson is that DeCosta at least sounds open to adding Brown. During a recent interview, DeCosta was asked if the team might be interested in adding the 31-year-old receiver and he definitely didn’t shoot down the idea. “We’re always assessing the players out there on the streets. We’re looking at guys, we’re making decisions that we think are best for the club, and if we think there’s a guy out there who fits us, who’s got the skill set to provide value, we’ll certainly pounce on that type of guy.”

While the NBA is allowing teams to reopen their practice facilities on May 8 in areas that permit it, some franchises may choose against doing so. Whether they are basketball players or anyone else.” Other teams are planning to reopen their facilities at a different date. The Los Angeles Lakers were targeting May 16, while the Houston Rockets would wait until May 18.

Ravens safety Earl Thomas and his wife, Nina, were in a lengthy domestic dispute last month in Texas, that included Nina pointing her husband’s 9mm Beretta pistol at his head, Nina Thomas aimed the weapon at her husband from close range after finding him and his brother, Seth, in bed with other women at an Airbnb in Austin on April 13. Earl Thomas wrestled the weapon from his wife. According to police, Nina Thomas did not realize the pistol was loaded and was looking only to scare her husband. Nina had tracked down Earl after logging into his Snapchat account and seeing a video of him with one of the women. The couple had argued earlier in the day about Earl’s drinking.
