Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider has died at the age of 73. The German electropop group confirmed Schneider’s passing in a statement early Wednesday. “Florian Schneider has passed away from a short cancer disease just a few days after his 73rd birthday,” the group says. The iconic band was started in 1970. 10 studio albums. In 2014, Hütter and Schneider were honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. One of Kraftwerk’s biggest fans was the late David Bowie; Variety notes that he not only used to play their 1975 album Radioactivity before his concerts, but he even wrote a tribute song titled “V2 Schneider” that appeared on his classic 1977 album Heroes. Kraftwerk’s influence also powered the synth-pop wave of the early 1980s with bands such as Depeche Mode and the Human League.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello believes a lot of young musicians don’t work hard enough and are looking for an easy way to get famous and he hates the lack of guitar in popular music, and lack of work ethic. “I’m disgusted by the fact that a lot of young people these days aren’t willing to sit down and practice the electric guitar for eight hours a day,” said Morello. “They are all looking for an easier route to becoming famous. Look at the Top 50 songs on the radio in the U.S. — there are no guitar solos in them.” Morello also conceded that guitar solos are not likely to help a young musician hit the charts anyway. “In this current climate, there really is no record industry,” he said. “If a new Metallica or a new Rage Against the Machine came along, there’s not the apparatus to shove it down the world’s throat that there was 20 or 25 years ago.” He also once described his practice schedule: “There was a time I would practice 8 hrs a day, every day. 2 hrs just technique & scales, 2 hrs music theory, 2 hrs learning songs & writing songs, and 2 hrs just jamming along with random radio stations and improvising over chord progressions.”

Last night on the masked singer the kitty sang and lost and got revealed. I have the performance, clues and reveal. Here she is singing Amy Winehouse Back to Black the clues to the singer you wont get are as follows: The Kitty is short in stature, and the judges have recently wondered if the Kitty mask’s two different color eyes are a clue about the Kitty’s celebrity identity. The Kitty gave Robin Thicke a friendship bracelet that said “Fireworks,” teasing that “the first time we met was lit.” Robert Redford helped her get her first role. The Kitty has also said “I’ve been on many stages and played many roles in my nine lives.” It seems clear from these clues that the Kitty is an actor by profession. The Kitty said that “for a large part of my life, I struggled with my self-image,” and “Even when I first got here, I felt like I was at a party for other people. Japan, the Taj Mahal, New York City, and Washington D.C. were some of the cities that the Kitty flew over in a heart-shaped hot air balloon during the video package. Reveal

Remember when MADONNA kept canceling dates on her Madame X Tour earlier this year?  Well, it turns out she had a valid reason for scrapping at least some of the shows:  She had the coronavirus. After Louis-Dreyfus recalled the barricades put up to keep out the paparazzi while filming the finale, Alexander revealed that someone tried to bribe him to leak details about the show. “My own publicist — I don’t know if this came for you, too — my publicist was asking me if I was willing to leak out some secrets for money. And I went, ‘They’ll kill us!’” he said. When Louis-Dreyfus asked if he fired the publicist, Alexander quipped, “No, I gave him a raise.” The two stars also talked about iconic episodes of the show, including “The Contest” and “The Chinese Restaurant,” during the chat, which was done to raise money for Direct Relief, a charity that is helping health care workers on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been rumors about a possible “Pirates of the Caribbean” reboot for a couple years. And now, a Disney “insider” blog claims the movie is in development, and they want a FEMALE lead. They’re supposedly interested in KAREN GILLAN, who plays Nebula in the Marvel movies, and also starred in “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: The Next Level”. There’s no word on how they’d be connected to the other “Pirates” movies . . . although the report suggests it could be about Redd the pirate, who’s a popular meet-and-greet character at the Disney parks. Since it’s a reboot, it doesn’t sound like JOHNNY DEPP would be involved.

While stuck at home over the past several weeks, people have been forced to cook for themselves more–and have maybe gotten around to that home-improvement and gardening project they’ve been putting off forever. They’ve also been watching a lot of TV, so it makes a ton of sense that the Food Network’s ratings were up 25 percent year-over-year in April, while HGTV saw its viewership increase by 22 percent.

HBO Max is developing some kind of “quarantine cooking show” featuring SELENA GOMEZ.  It was inspired by Selena spending more time in the kitchen.  A press release says, quote, “Despite her many talents, it remains to be seen if cooking is one of them.” It debuts May 27th. Major League Baseball expects to offer a return-to-play proposal to the MLB Players Association within a week, as teams have begun to encourage players to prepare for a “spring” training that could begin in mid-June and a season that could start in early July. Although a bunch of hurdles remain and some industry leaders believe June and July return dates are optimistic, ownership’s approval of a plan and talking about specifics with the union would mark two vital steps toward baseball’s return. Some teams have suggested that players prepare for a spring training that could begin as early as June 10 and a season that could begin July 1.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the league’s 32 teams this week that they’ll be allowed to release the schedule a full half-hour early on their individual team websites. “For the first-time ever, each club may release its own game schedule on its owned and operated media platforms at 6:30 p.m. CST, 30 minutes before the NFL Network Schedule Release show begins at 8:00 p.m. Clubs can choose to release their schedule in any appropriate way they choose, while prominently promoting the national NFL Network Schedule Release show to follow, during which the full schedule will be released, analyzed and discussed.”

The NFL has laid out a plan for all 32 teams to have their facilities prepared to be reopened by Friday, May 15. Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to all teams Wednesday informing them of the protocols put in place to have their complexes ready to open. He said he will then advise them as to when they can formally allow personnel to enter.

If there’s one NFL team this offseason that’s constantly being listed as a potential landing spot for free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown, it’s the Baltimore Ravens, and that’s not by accident. Over the past month, Brown and Lamar Jackson have both made it pretty clear that they would love to see Brown sign with the Ravens. Of course, before that can happen, Jackson is going to have get his general manager on board with the idea of signing the troubled receiver. The good news for Jackson is that DeCosta at least sounds open to adding Brown. During a recent interview, DeCosta was asked if the team might be interested in adding the 31-year-old receiver and he definitely didn’t shoot down the idea. “We’re always assessing the players out there on the streets. We’re looking at guys, we’re making decisions that we think are best for the club, and if we think there’s a guy out there who fits us, who’s got the skill set to provide value, we’ll certainly pounce on that type of guy.”

A Mississippi state auditor said yesterday that Brett Favre will return $1.1 million in welfare money that he received for speaking engagements that never happened.“Favre received funds from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, in 2017 and 2018. The money came through the Department of Human Services and a nonprofit, the Mississippi Community Education Center. The audit said the nonprofit paid Favre’s company, Favre Enterprises, $1.1 million for appearances, promotions, autographs and speaking engagements that he didn’t attend.” It was noted that Favre has already paid back $500,000 to his office and will provide the other $600,000 in installments “over the next few months.”

While the NBA is allowing teams to reopen their practice facilities on May 8 in areas that permit it, some franchises may choose against doing so.  One of them is the Dallas Mavericks, as team owner Mark Cuban said Wednesday: We can’t test people.  We can’t assure anybody’s safety.  Whether they are basketball players or anyone else.” Other teams are planning to reopen their facilities at a different date. The Los Angeles Lakers were targeting May 16, while the Houston Rockets would wait until May 18.

UFC is taking extra precautions to keep personnel safe during for the upcoming UFC 249 pay-per-view Saturday in Jacksonville. The organization will have over 1,200 coronavirus tests for athletes and staff, including 600 antibody tests and 600 antigen tests. The event was initially scheduled to take place in Brooklyn on April 18, but the pandemic caused numerous changes, including the location and several matches on the slate. Tony Ferguson was initially set to headline the event with a match against lightweight champion Khabib, but he will instead face Justin Gaethje. Henry Cejudo will defend his bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz. There also won’t be fans in the arena, while all staff members will wear personal protective equipment, including masks and gloves. Post-fight interviews won’t take place in the Octagon as has become customary.

UFC president Dana White said Conor McGregor is “ready to go” as he eyes a bout on “Fight Island”. After unbeaten lightweight champion Khabib had to be replaced as Ferguson’s opponent because of travel restrictions, White has been working on staging international bouts on a private island. While reluctant to have McGregor fighting without fans, White said the former featherweight and lightweight champion – who last fought in January – is itching to return. White said QUOTE “Conor’s been ready to fight for a while. He’s in shape. He’s ready to go. First of all, ‘Fight Island’ is going to be very important in any of these fights that are happening with people from outside the country. He’s asking me what date can I fight on ‘Fight Island’ and will there be fans. Conor’s asking me, Conor wants to fight.”

Ravens safety Earl Thomas and his wife, Nina, were in a lengthy domestic dispute last month in Texas, that included Nina pointing her husband’s 9mm Beretta pistol at his head, Nina Thomas aimed the weapon at her husband from close range after finding him and his brother, Seth, in bed with other women at an Airbnb in Austin on April 13. Earl Thomas wrestled the weapon from his wife. According to police, Nina Thomas did not realize the pistol was loaded and was looking only to scare her husband. Nina had tracked down Earl after logging into his Snapchat account and seeing a video of him with one of the women. The couple had argued earlier in the day about Earl’s drinking. Mrs. Thomas was accompanied by two other women, one of whom, police said, shot cellphone video of the incident. Later, according to the police, officers responded to a call and when they arrived, they observed Nina Thomas chasing her husband around a vehicle while wielding a knife. Earl was holding the pistol. The knife may have been the same one that one of the women who had accompanied Nina allegedly brandished during the gun episode.
