Distance learning has been bad news for kids who are class clowns . . . so here’s their latest stunt.  There’s a ridiculous new TikTok trend where students pretend to get kidnapped during their school Zooms to see how people react.

The Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drop will be virtual this year.  The organizers announced yesterday that it’s going to be done completely online . . . and there will be barricades set up in the area to keep people out.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show got its highest ratings for a season premiere since 2016 this week, thanks to the host’s highly anticipated apology monologue. Ellen “ranked #1 in a lucrative ad demo: adults aged 25 to 54,” the outlet notes, “with a 0.9 rating, an increase from last year’s 0.8.” Ellen was #1 this week among 18-to-34-year-old female viewers. The question is will people continue to watch this season, or if they just tuned in for the premiere to see how DeGeneres would address her summer of mean-girl and toxic-workplace scandal.

Disney is now pushing Black Widow and West Side Story to next year because of covid.  Black Widow was scheduled for Nov. 6. It will now open on May 7, 2021. Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story is being delayed almost an entire year, and is moving from this Dec. 18 to Dec. 10, 2021. A bit of good news for theater owners: Pixar’s Soul is sticking to its Nov. 20, 2020 theatrical release date. (Jamie Fozz and Tina Fey do voice work…Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn’t quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz — and he’s good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul).Theaters in some top markets are not even open yet in the U.S., and there is growing concern about a second wave of COVID-19 cases this fall and winter, both domestically and abroad. BTW, Marvel’s The Eternals is moving to Nov. 5, 2021.

The Evil Knievel estate is suing Disney & Pixar over their Toy Story 4 “Duke Caboom,” The estate, claims the character is a blatant ripoff of Knievel. The company also says that Disney ripped off the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle toy. They also say that Disney told the cast to specifically avoid mentioning names that might be trademarked. They wants damages awarded to them and is also seeking a portion of the film’s profits. Kelly Knievel, Evel’s son, also spokesmen, spoke out about the lawsuit. “Evel Knievel did not thrill millions around the world, break his bones and spill his blood just so Disney could make a bunch of money,” Kelly said.

Richard Patrick is the frontman to Filter (Hey Man Nice Shot, Take a Picture) has a bit of a history with Trent Reznor of NIN. He was his touring guitarist. He was both inspired and frustrated with Trent over the years. But the breaking point was when he had some career advice for Richard. (AUDIO) so he said he was taking his ball and going home (AUDIO) He said they are cool now and chat regularly.

Bowling injuries that come to mind right away are dropping the ball on your toe or expired meat on that chili dog from the snack counter. Not this. “Cake Boss” star BUDDY VALASTRO has a bowling alley in his New Jersey home, and they were enjoying a game the other night when their pinsetter malfunctioned. Buddy reached in to dislodge a pin, and got all messed up.  His rep says, quote, “his right hand became lodged and compressed inside the unit. “Unable to remove his hand, he can see a [one-and-a-half-inch] metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger.” Buddy’s sons actually had to cut through the metal rod with a reciprocating saw to set him free. Buddy had two surgeries, and he’s home from the hospital, but his rep says he’ll need, quote, “prolonged recovery and therapy.”

Get ready to be disgusted in another way…MICHAEL JACKSON’s cousin Marsha says she has the last Propofol IV drip that Michael used . . . one that he had in his arm on his death bed. And she is either A) selling it to cash in or 2) all of the above…Marsha says she went to the place Michael was staying shortly after his death . . . went to his bedroom . . . and saw the IV, which had some “white, milk-like fluid” in it.  That stuff has since “dissolved,” but there IS some dried blood in it as well. When she saw the blood, she immediately grabbed it and put it in her purse, because she knew it would have his DNA. (AUDIO)  She has it up for auction, and she’s hoping to get at least $2,500. It’s part of a bigger auction of pieces from the estate of Michael’s father Joe Jackson.  He died in 2018. By the way, even though Marsha seems to think it was the final IV that Michael used, it probably wasn’t.  LAPD detectives removed medical equipment from the crime scene hours after Michael passed away . . . before Marsha showed up. The listing on the auction site even says, quote, “This IV probably was not the one that was used to administer that [final lethal] dose, however, it could more than likely have been used during his many treatments with Propofol.”

TOM HANKS made a lot of money from “Forrest Gump” . . . but that’s because he had to PAY for some of it. Tom says that he and director ROBERT ZEMECKIS covered the cost of some scenes that the studio didn’t want to pay for. One of them was the part where Forrest runs across the country. (AUDIO) Paramount said it was too expensive to film, but Tom and Robert really wanted it.  There was another, unspecified scene where Paramount didn’t want to spring for the insurance, so they stepped up again. In return for putting their own money in, Hanks and Zemeckis asked Paramount to give them a bigger share of the profits.  And because of that, Tom ended up making $65 million off “Forrest Gump” in 1994

HALL & OATES have a lot of hits, but they’re celebrating one BILLION streams of one of their more random songs:  “You Make My Dreams. (AUDIO) It wasn’t even initially planned as a single. John Oates says, quote, “It’s amazing, right?  What really gets me about this is when the song was released in 1981, it wasn’t a massive #1 hit . . . we couldn’t have predicted the impact it would have. “It’s become this anthemic feel-good thing.  A lot of it started with its use in the movie ‘500 Days of Summer’.  From there on, it took on this life of its own.” has a list of “weird celebrity facts that are 100% true,” and they did a decent job with it . . . because most of them are not widely known and ARE fairly weird.
