KANYE WEST posted a video of himself urinating on one of his Grammys.  He captioned the video, “Trust me . . . I WONT STOP.” He also Tweeted pictures of his “ten Universal [music] contracts” and compared them to “modern-day slavery.”  He said, quote, “I need every lawyer in the world to look at these.” What people seemed to notice the most, though, is Kanye’s signature, which looks like something a toddler would scribble.  Kanye wants out of his contracts, and he wants to own his masters. He wants to release ALL musicians from unfair contracts.  The day ended with Kanye being LOCKED OUT of Twitter for 12 hours, because he posted the personal number of “Forbes” editor Randall Lane. . . and called him a white supremacist. Kanye’s buddy RICK FOX passed along the news.

Netflix cancellations are up, and “Cuties” could have something to do with it. “Cuties” is a French film that’s supposed to be about the dangers of sexualizing young girls.  But to make its point, the movie shows young girls in sexual situations, including age-inappropriate dance numbers. About a week ago, the hashtag “Cancel Netflix” hit the top-trending spot on Twitter, and that’s when cancellations started. Netflix’s daily cancellation rate was nearly EIGHT TIMES HIGHER than normal on Saturday. There’s no word how many people quit, though . . . or how much of an impact it’ll make.  Netflix added 25.9 million new subscribers in the first six months of the year, thanks in part to the pandemic.  They have about 193 million worldwide.

Netflix has another true-crime docu-series on the way, “American Murder: The Family Next Door”.  It tells the story of Shanann Watts and her two young daughters, who went missing in Frederick, Colorado, and the terrible events that followed.  It premieres September 30th.  Here’s part of the trailer.  It’s chilling.

ROBIN GIVENS will apparently NOT be portrayed in the MIKE TYSON movie that JAMIE FOXX is doing.

Earlier this week, SAMUEL L. JACKSON asked his fans to go online and make sure they were registered to vote.  And he said that if 2,500 people did it, he would swear in 15 different languages. Well, they did . . . and so did he.  Sam posted a two-minute video, cussing in languages like Basque, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Icelandic, Haitian, and even Esperanto.  The curses are written on cards, so you can Google SOME of them if you want to know what they mean.  But a lot of them are in languages that don’t use our alphabet, so good luck.

Game 1 of the double header against the Brewers last night was the Adam Wainwright show.  He pitched a complete game striking out 9 on the way to a 4-2 win.  Game two didn’t pan out so well as the Cards were shutout against the Brewers 6-0.  Tonight, the Cards are in Pittsburgh against the Pirates.  Dakota Hudson gets the start, first pitch is scheduled for 6:05PM.

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt has been suspended one game and fined by Major League Baseball for his part in a bench-clearing incident against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.  Shildt served his punishment during Game 2 of the doubleheader last night.  No punches were thrown between the two teams and Shildt is officially getting reprimanded for “actions that contributed to inciting the benches-clearing incident”.  He may not have been the initial instigator, but he no doubt helped escalate the situation.

MLB’s 2021 action will begin with spring training Feb. 27. The regular season will start April 1, with all 30 teams competing that day. The league released the full 162-game schedule for each team in July, hoping to return to normal after a shortened 60-game season in 2020. This year will also feature an expanded 16-team playoff field and neutral-site postseason games, but the World Series is scheduled to end Oct. 28 at the latest, comparable to other years. Even with the coronavirus pandemic causing numerous changes to the 2020 campaign, the offseason and upcoming season could remain on schedule.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed to the playoffs for the eighth straight year after clinching a postseason berth.  In this 60-game season, the Dodgers have firmly established themselves as the team to beat in October. They currently own the best record in Major League Baseball (35-15).

The St. Louis Blues have hired former Stars head coach Jim Montgomery 10 months after Dallas fired him for unprofessional conduct. The 51-year-old coach was dismissed for behavior inconsistent with “core values and beliefs of the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League.” The reasoning behind Montgomery’s firing was not clear immediately after its announcement, but the coach later revealed in January that he was battling alcohol abuse and had sought treatment. He described his firing as a “wake-up call.” “Sometimes it takes an unbearable consequence in your life to happen to have an unbelievable breakthrough, and that’s the way I look at it,” Montgomery said in a video interview the Blues posted Wednesday. “I’m just very thankful for what happened because now I’m a much better person every day and obviously a better husband, father and son.”

Tonight it’s Game 6 between the Lightning and Islanders.  A win by Tampa Bay puts them in the Stanley Cup finals against the Stars.  A win by the Islanders forces a Game 7 on Saturday.  The last time these two met, the Islanders snuck away with the 2-1 win in OT.  Tonight, puck drop is scheduled for 7PM.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals goes down tonight in the NBA bubble in Orlando.  The Heat snuck away with a Game 1 win after a monster block on St. Louis’ own Jason Tatum near the end of the game.  Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals happens tomorrow.  Tip off tonight for the ECF is at 6PM.

Tonight on Thursday night football it’s the battle of Ohio as the Browns take on the Bengals.  Both teams are 0-1.  You can watch the game on the NFL NETWORK and kick off is scheduled for 7:20PM.

Quarterback Peyton Manning, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and defensive back Charles Woodson headlined the first-time nominees announced Wednesday as part of the 130-player group eligible for the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. The full list includes 65 offensive players, 49 defensive players and 16 special teamers. The group of nominees will be reduced to 25 in November and 15 in January before the Class of 2021 is announced during Super Bowl week in February.

Back in August, the Big 10 voted 11-3 in favor of cancelling the 2020 college football season.  And now, just about 60 days later, they voted 14-0 in favor of restarting the season at the end of October.  The conference will re-join play on Oct 24th.  And while there is no set date – the Pac-12 may be the next to follow suit.

Couple other cool college notes.  The NCAA made an announcement yesterday that student athletes will have no athletic activities scheduled on November 3rd.  Why is that?  Because that’s election day and the NCAA is encouraging everyone of it’s student athletes to get out and vote.

Missouri’s count of players who will miss the team’s season-opener against Alabama on Sept. 26  due to COVID-19 protocols is up to 12, Tigers coach Elijah Drinkwitz said yesterday. Though not all 12 have necessarily tested positive for the coronavirus, the SEC mandates a 14-day quarantine for those who have been in “prolonged close contact” with someone who tests positive. An instance of “prolonged close contact” is when a person has spent 15 minutes within 6 feet of someone in the two days prior to their development of COVID-19 symptoms.

And finally – the US Open (golf) will kickoff today.  Tiger Woods is looking like the current favorite as the Open heads to Winged Foot Golf Club in New York for the first time since 2006.  Tiger Woods tees off at 8:07AM.  Last years champ Gary Woodland tees off at 1:05PM
