We’re looking at a substitute teacher shortage this year with teachers potentially being out for weeks at a time from coronavirus and not enough substitutes out there to fill the jobs.

In huge gamer news, Microsoft/Xbox bought one of the most successful game making companies, ZeniMax Media for 7.5 billion dollars.  Their division of Bethesda Softworks makes games like Skyrim, Fallout, and Doom.  This means that soon those games, and others, will be exclusive to Xbox.  Here’s Microsoft’s Head of Xbox Phil Spencer on what’s on the way.

Former employees at the Ellen show weren’t digging Ellen’s attempt at an apology and or explaination about all the scandals surrounding her show. Anywhere from being a bully to sexual harassment. She vowed things have changed. She apologized and yes she made a few jokes. A few reactions from former employees... “Not only did Ellen turn my trauma, turn our traumas, into a joke, she somehow managed to make this about her,” and “When you’re talking about people who have accused her leadership of the seriousness of sexual misconduct, I don’t think it’s appropriate to have jokes in the monologue.” Current employees say changes have been made and Ellen is more “engaged” then ever.

First her show goes away, then her husband’s run for the presidency is ummm not going great and then ya know…law school. This whole being married to Kanye thing is getting to be too much. Stay tuned supoosedly if Kanye does not get it together she may be packing that ass up and leaving him. They have 4 kids. Can you imagine the media circus?

Zendaya fans were feeling euphoric about her Best Actress win at Sunday’s Emmys for her work on Euphoria–until they found out that her win was being called an “upset” and that upset them. Why? Apparently because some of them don’t know that the word “upset” can have two meanings: either “being very sad,” or “an unexpected result.” One vocabulary-challenged Zendaya fan tweeted, “No one’s upset,” while another said about the use of the word “upset” to describe her win, “I wasn’t upset. Zendaya’s performance in Euphoria was PHENOMENAL.” In response, at least one dictionary-equipped Twitter user wrote, “There is no hope for humanity if this many people don’t know what ‘an upset’ means.”

Lauren Alaina gave “People” a tour of her house, and the highlight was a rug that used to be a cow.  It was the family’s cow and when it died her stepdad made a rug out of her.  Lauren inherited it after her stepdad passed away.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama, President Bill Clinton and others will be on the West Wing reunion show on HBO Max.  Former cast members will be together for the first time in 17 years. They will restage Season 3 episode “Hartsfield’s Landing” for When We All Vote, a nonprofit co-chaired by Obama.  It will premiere October 15 on HBO Max.

Today “Enola Holmes” is on Netflix.  Millie Bobby Brown is Sherlock Holmes’ sister, who turns to him for help when her mother goes missing.  Henry Cavill is Sherlock, Sam Claflin is their smarter brother Mycroft, and Helena Bonham Carter plays her mom.

Horror fans like to think the movies they watch make them better prepared to handle catastrophic situations.  Are they right?  A new study says . . . maybe. Researchers at a Danish university say, quote, “Fiction allows the audience to explore an imagined version of the world at very little cost.  “Through fiction, people can learn how to escape dangerous predators, navigate novel social situations, and practice their mind-reading and emotion regulation skills.” The research even suggests that horror fans have been feeling less stress during the pandemic . . . quote, “Horror fiction allows its audience to practice grappling with negative emotions in a safe setting. “Experiencing negative emotions in a safe setting, such as during a horror film, might help individuals hone strategies for dealing with fear and more calmly deal with fear-eliciting situations in real life.”

In “Toy Story 4”, KEANU REEVES’ character Duke Caboom was an obvious homage to EVEL KNIEVEL.  But the people who control Evel’s name and likeness don’t see it as a compliment . . . because they weren’t able to cash in. K&K Promotions is suing Disney and Pixar for damages, saying they RIPPED OFF Evel Knievel’s image without permission, and made money off not only the movie, but Duke Caboom TOYS . . . Including his own stunt cycle, like the CLASSIC Evel Knievel toy from the ’70s that every kid had to have . . . even though it RARELY worked like it was supposed to.

Somehow, CAROLE BASKIN did NOT get eliminated first on “Dancing with the Stars”.  Even before she landed in the basement in Week 1 with an 11 out of 30. Last night was an improvement, though.  She got a 16 out of 30.  Which was actually higher than SKAI JACKSON and CHARLES OAKLEY, who both got 15. Still, it was Carole in the bottom two with Charles, and the judges had to make the call.  It was Carole by a split decision.  Carrie Ann Inaba voted for Carole, Bruno Tonioli wanted Charles, and Derek Hough voted Carole.

The metal band Anthrax have launched “Stop Spreading the Disease” hand sanitizer, in a nod to the 35th anniversary of their second album, 1985’s Spreading the Disease. Drummer Charlie Benante broke the news in an Instagram post in which he was holding a bottle and wrote it was “coming soon,” along with the hashtags #stayhealthy and #clean. Anthrax also recently released bourbon whiskey, so they have no shortage of unique fan offerings.

Vanessa Bryant is suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department due to the deputies that took and in at least one case shared “unauthorized” photos of the aftermath of the helicopter crash that killed her husband and daughter. The suit seeks damages for negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of her right to privacy.
