Vampire Weekend has scored its third Number One album on the Billboard 200 album chart, as the band’s fourth LP, Father Of The Bride, bowed atop the list on Sunday night (May 12th).

The disc sold the physical and digital equivalent of 138,000 copies in its first week of release, with 119,000 of those being actual album sales. Both figures represent the largest for any rock album in 2019 and the most first-week sales for a rock release since Mumford & Sons sold 230,000 copies of Delta last December.

Vampire Weekend topped the Billboard 200 with its last two albums, 2013’s Modern Vampires Of The City and 2010’s Contra. The New York outfit’s new effort also earned more than 20 million on-demand audio streams for its songs, making it the biggest debut streaming week for a rock album in 2019.

Vampire Weekend plays this Friday (May 17th) at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama and will launch a new round of tour dates on June 7th in Indianapolis.
