Thirty Seconds To Mars singer Jared Leto announced on Monday (April 2nd) that he will embark on a cross-country journey called “Mars Across America” in celebration of the band’s fifth album, America, which will be released on April 6th. Leto departed from New York City on Monday and is going to travel across the country any way he has to, whether it’s hitchhiking, Lyft rides, bicycles or even running.

The artist will visit destinations that showcase the subject behind the band’s new album, and will also hand out genetic testing kits from 23andMe to fans along the route, encouraging them to discover more about their heritage. The trip will end in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles on the day the new record comes out.

America, which features contributions from Halsey and A$AP Rocky, follows up 2013’s Love, Lust, Faith And Dreams.

The band has also announced the Monolith Tour, which will kick off on June 6th in Toronto. Support on the tour will come on various dates from Walk The MoonK.FlayMisterWivesJoywave and Welshly Arms.
