The Regrettes have premiered a new single, called “Monday.”
The track is accompanied by a video in which the group flashes back to a middle school dance, which is being DJed by the one and only Olivia Rodrigo. The clip, which is streaming now on YouTube, also finds frontwoman Lydia Night haunted by a strange pink figure named Joy.
“[Joy represents] the false image of one’s ‘perfect and ideal self’ which began to taunt me and I think many people in middle school,” Night says. “She will be an ongoing character and theme in music to come.”
“Monday” follows The Regrettes’ 2019 sophomore album, How Do You Love? The band released it to coincide with their set tonight at Eddie Vedder‘s Ohana Festival.
