Rivers Cuomo has uploaded over 2,000 demos from throughout Weezer‘s career.
The recordings date from the sessions for Weezer’s 1994 debut album to 2016’s White Album. Additionally, Cuomo has also shared demos from a “before Weezer” period that dates all the way back to 1976.
As for why Cuomo is releasing all this material, it’s for perhaps the most Rivers Cuomo reason ever: a web programming class.
“For my Web Programming class final project, I made a web market stocked with 2655 previously unreleased demos,” Cuomo tweeted Tuesday morning.

In an explainer about the demos, Cuomo notes that the recordings “might have silence,” “might have super low sound quality,” or “might be wildly inappropriate.” He also asks that you not share the demos publicly should you decide to purchase them.
