Cage the Elephant frontman Matt Shultz has reportedly been arrested for criminal firearm possession.
According to the New York Post and the Daily Mail, Shultz was apprehended in New York City on Thursday after police found two loaded guns in his Manhattan hotel room. The Daily Mail also reports that a hotel employee saw Shultz carrying a gun into the establishment’s ground floor bathroom.
Both the Post and the Daily Mail posted photos and videos of Shultz being escorted out of a precinct by New York Police Department officers.
ABC Audio has reached out to a Cage the Elephant rep for comment.
Shultz is a founding member of Cage the Elephant alongside his brother, guitarist Brad Shultz. The group’s most recent album is 2019’s Grammy-winning Social Cues.
