The guitar Phoebe Bridgers smashed during her Saturday Night Live performance in February sold for over $100,000.

The instrument was auctioned off as part of the GLAAD Media Awards in support of the LGBTQ community. The final selling price was $101,500.

“Phoebe Bridgers’ unforgettable ‘SNL’ guitar smash has now gone from a much buzzed about performance and morphed into an important moment of giving back to the LGBTQ community,” says Anthony Ramos, GLAAD’s Head of Talent.

“Phoebe is such a visible, out powerhouse in the music industry,” Ramos continues. “We knew that the item was special, but we were so pleasantly surprised to see such a large amount of money raised that will go directly into our work to support and uplift LGBTQ people. Thank you, Phoebe!”

Bridgers played the guitar during her performance of the song “I Know the End,” which ended with her destroying the instrument on stage by smashing it against an amp.

“I Know the End” appears on Bridgers’ 2020 album Punisher, which also includes the single “Kyoto.”
