Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has criticized NOFX frontman Michael “Fat Mike” Burkett  for sexist and sexually explicit comments she alleges he made about her.

Williams spoke about Mike’s comments in an interview with Billboard while recalling the “mixture of vindication and also a lot of anger” she felt over co-headlining last year’s much-hyped When We Were Young festival, which mostly focused on 2000s pop-punk and emo bands.

“I was really surprised that I had so much anger well up in me because I was like, ‘Wait a minute. They’re treating us like a prize now,'” Williams recalls thinking. “But like, Fat Mike used to tell people that I gave good rim jobs onstage when I was 19 years old.”

“I do not think that that’s punk,” she continues. “I don’t think that’s the essence of punk. And I feel strongly that without young women, people of color and also the queer community, I just think we would still be where we were then.”

Fat Mike hasn’t yet responded publicly to Williams’ comments.

Paramore is gearing up to release a new album, This Is Why, on February 10. NOFX, meanwhile, will be kicking off a farewell tour in April.
