New Radicals‘ decision to reunite for the first time in 22 years for the virtual Parade Across America event this week turned out to be the right move.

As previously reported, the group was one of several performers on Parade Across America, which was held following the inauguration of President Biden.  They sang their signature hit “Get What You Give,” and following that performance, according to Billboard, the song experienced a sales bump of more than 260%.

As Rolling Stone reported, “Get What You Give” has special significance for both the Biden and Harris camps. Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, used the song as his walk-on music during the 2020 campaign, while Biden’s late son, Beau, would often listen to it during his battle with cancer.

“Get What You Give” was the lead single from New Radicals’ one and only album, Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too, which came out in 1998.  It reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 that same year. 

In addition to frontman Gregg Alexander, the only other permanent member was former child actress Danielle Brisebois, who you may remember for her role as Stephanie Mills on the TV series Archie Bunker’s Place.

Meanwhile, Billboard also notes that sales of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These” jumped big-time after the band performed on the Celebrating America primetime special on Wednesday night. 

The Foos were one of the few acts on the special who performed an original song, rather than a cover.  Sales of the song, from the band’s 2003 album One By One, increased by more than 8,700%.
