Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford has announced his debut solo album.

The effort is called (self-titled) and is set to arrive September 16. It will include collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, Brandi Carlile and Monica Martin.

“In January 2021, facing demons I danced with for a long time in isolation, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,'” Mumford explains. “I took it to my friend [producer] Blake Mills, and we began the process of making this album, dear to my heart.”

Mumford has previously worked outside Mumford & Sons as the co-composer for Ted Lasso.

Mumford & Sons’ most recent album is 2018’s Delta. They’ve been quiet since the departure of founding member Winston Marshall, who left the group in 2021 so that he can “speak [his] mind” on “controversial” issues.
