Mod Sun got some words of encouragement from the one and only Taylor Swift during Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

In a tweet following the show, the “Flames” rocker wrote, “Taylor Swift told me I’m talented as f*** tonight.”

“Now I wanna keep making music,” he added. “Thank you Taylor.”

Mod attended the VMAs with fiancée Avril Lavigne, who was nominated twice in the Best Alternative category. The “Sk8er Boi” artist also presented the award for Best New Artist, 20 years after she won the prize in 2002.

Swift, meanwhile, had a big night Sunday; She won Video of the Year for “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” and announced the release of her next album, Midnights.
