Kid Rock confirms Senate run after being met with skepticism

Kid Rock has confirmed that he is running for the U.S. Senate seat in Michigan currently held by Democrat Debbie Stabenow. Rock announced his run on Wednesday (July 12th) with a new campaign website, although the revelation was met with some skepticism over the fact that campaign merch was being sold on the site through a Warner Bros. Records website and that Rock had not yet filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

In a statement titled “Once again the press is wrong,” Rock insisted that he was running, writing, “First of all, I’ve got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC! Second, I’m not signed to Warner Bros!!! – which simple fact-checking would have revealed. I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I’m planning on putting out music during mine . . . It’s not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101!”

  • Later on Thursday (July 13th), Rock released a new song and video, “Greatest Show On Earth.”
  • The clip ends by promoting the “Greatest Show On Earth Tour,” which will hit the U.S. in 2018 — the same time that Rock would have to be campaigning if he’s serious about his run for Senate.
