GODSMACK LANDS AT NUMBER THREE ON ‘BILLBOARD’ ALBUM CHART
Godsmack's sixth studio album, 1000 Horsepower, sold approximately 58,000 copies in its first week of release to land at Number Three on the Billboard 200 album chart on Wednesday (August 13th). The disc, which arrived on Tuesday, August 5th, follows up 2011's The Oracle, which topped the chart with sales of 117,000 copies in its debut week.
The title track from 1000 Horsepower is currently topping the rock radio chart and the band has just released an official video for the song. Frontman Sully Erna told us that even though it was the last song written for the record, he knew it had to be the first single: "To me, once 'Horsepower' came out, I'm like, you know, look, this is a no-brainer. I mean, it's just obvious. Not only is it a fast, fun, punk kind of song, but it's about the history of the band. I mean, why wouldn't we launch that? Not only did we launch it first, but we felt like it kind of gave us a theme, going back to the roots, the beginning." in Clarkston, Michigan.
The tour, which also features Seether, Skillet, Buckcherry, Pop Evil, Escape The Fate, Redlight King and others, will run through September 21st.
