Having already broken one Billboard record with “Heat Waves,” Glass Animals is closing in on another.
The English group’s breakout hit has now spent a total of 87 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. That ties Imagine Dragons‘ 2012 single “Radioactive” for the second-longest stay on the all-genre chart.
“Radioactive” had long held the record for the most total weeks on the Hot 100 until The Weeknd‘s mega-hit “Blinding Lights” earned its 88th week on the chart in 2021. “Blinding Lights” continues to hold the record, which stretched to 90 weeks.
“Heat Waves” was originally released in 2020 as a single off Glass Animals’ album Dreamland. It hit #1 on the Hot 100 in March 2020, taking a record-breaking 59 weeks to reach the top spot.
Meanwhile, “Heat Waves” now ties Panic! at the Disco‘s “High Hopes” for the most weeks spent on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, with 108.
