Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes spoke in French court Tuesday as he testified in the case against the surviving gunman who attacked the band’s show at the Bataclan music venue in Paris in 2015.

According to French news organization BFM TV, Hughes told the court that he “forgive[s]” the perpetrators of the attack.

Speaking to reporters following the testimony, Hughes said, “I’m a Christian. Everyone can be lost, and everyone needs to find the way, most certainly those gentlemen [on trial] do.”

“I forgive them,” Hughes continued through tears. “I hope that they find the peace of God themselves.”

BFM TV also reports that, during his testimony, Hughes quoted the title of the Ozzy Osbourne song “You Can’t Kill Rock and Roll.”

The Bataclan attack took place November 13, 2015, as part of larger series of terrorist attacks in Paris that night. Ninety people were killed at the theater, including Eagles of Death Metal merch worker Nick Alexander.
