Dita Von Teese, who was wed to disgraced rocker Marilyn Manson between 2005 and 2006, has broken her silence about her ex-husband’s scandal.
Manson stands accused by multiple women, including actress Evan Rachel Wood, of abuse.
The burlesque dancer addressed the controversy Wednesday on her personal Instagram and dismissed rumors that Manson abused her during their relationship.
“I have been processing the news that broke Monday regarding Marilyn Manson,” her statement began. “To those who have expressed concerns of my well-being, I appreciate your kindness.”
“Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple. I would have not married him in December 2005,” she attested, revealing the reason why she walked away from their marriage.
“I left 12 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse,” said Von Teese, 48. “Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship.”
The model extended her condolences to Manson’s alleged victims and offered encouragement to people who are in similar situations, adding, “I urge of you who have incurred abuse to take step to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself.”
Von Teese closed out by expressing that this will be her only statement on the matter and asked her fans to respect her decision to not speak further.
Evan Rachel Wood on Monday said Manson, born Brian Warner, “horrifically abused me for years.”
Multiple women have since come forward with similar accusations of abuse.
Manson denied the accusations in a Tuesday statement, writing, “these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality.”
Loma Vista, Manson’s record label, has since severed ties with the rocker. In addition, his appearances on Creepshow and American Gods have been pulled from broadcast.
