Death Cab for Cutie‘s “Roman Candles” video certainly lives up to the song’s title.

The clip, which is streaming now on YouTube, finds the Death Cab members performing the tune while surrounded by lit fireworks. Don’t worry — they’re all wearing protective eyewear.

Filmmaker Lance Bangs, who’s previously worked with artists including Nirvana, R.E.M. and Green Day, directed the video.

“We’ve known Lance for years and it was great to get a chance to work with him again,” says Death Cab frontman Ben Gibbard. “He took this concept I had come up with and made it better than we could ever have imagined. The dude is brilliant and a total blast to work with.”

“Roman Candles” is the lead single off the upcoming Death Cab for Cutie album Asphalt Meadows, due out September 16.
