Death Cab for Cutie has announced an acoustic version of the band’s latest album, Asphalt Meadows.
The collection includes unplugged renditions of each track off Asphalt Meadows. You’ll also find a bonus cover of the song “The Plan” by the band Low, whose drummer/vocalist Mimi Parker passed away last November.
“We believe the best way to remember the musicians we lose is to play their songs,” says Death Cab frontman Ben Gibbard. “‘The Plan’ has always been one of our favorite Low songs and is presented here in tribute to Mimi.”
Asphalt Meadows Acoustic will be released March 10. You can listen to “The Plan” and the acoustic version of the single “Pepper” now via digital outlets.
The original Asphalt Meadows was released last September. Death Cab is currently on tour in continued support of the record, and will be throughout the winter and spring. In September, they’ll launch a co-headlining tour with Gibbard’s other band, The Postal Service, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their respective 2003 albums, Transatlanticism and Give Up.
