First with Nirvana and now with Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is making a habit of getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. But getting inducted into the Rock Hall isn’t the only thing Grohl has done during the Rock Hall Induction Ceremony.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Grohl recalls partaking in — ahem — extracurricular activities when he performed with Joan Jett during her 2015 induction.

“We performed and after a few hours, I went up to the dressing room to drink and wound up smoking a joint with Joan and Miley Cyrus,” Grohl reveals.

“I came back downstairs…and I rarely smoke weed,” he continues. “I remember looking over, staring at Jerry Lee Lewis and just being…I don’t even have the words to describe it. I was tripping f***in’ balls.”

To make matters worse, Grohl needed to go back onstage to join Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, along with all of the night’s inductees, presenters and performers, for an all-star jam of The Beatles‘ classic “With A Little Help From My Friends.”

“I couldn’t imagine being onstage,” Grohl says. “I walked out there so high that I hid behind Stevie Wonder.”

Speaking about the Foos’ induction this year, Grohl shares that he’s more excited for his band mates to be honored than he is for himself.

“I don’t think any of us ever imagined that this would happen,” he says.

The 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place October 30 in Cleveland. The other inductees include The Go-Go’s, Todd Rundgren, JAY-Z, Carole King and Tina Turner.

Additionally, artists including late Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads and electronic pioneers Kraftwerk are being inducted with the Musical Excellence and Early Influence Awards, respectively.
