Talinda Bennington, the widow of Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington, has split from her new husband Michael Friedman, whom she married January 4, 2002 in Hawaii.

On Twitter, she wrote, “I am ready to announce that Michael and I have decided to move forward with our lives as friends. Divorce is never easy, but in our case it is for the best. We have remained good friends and he continues to be an important part of my children’s lives.”

Talinda continued, “Love and Loss is part of life and it’s even harder when you have to do it in the public eye. “Thank you for your love and support and respect for our privacy at this time.”

Talinda had three children with Chester, who died by suicide in July of 2017. She married Friedman, an LA County firefighter, four months after they announced their engagement.

In May of 2020, in partnership with Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, Talinda launched the 320 Festival, designed to raise awareness for mental health resources. It featured performances from Badflower, Mike Shinoda, Yungblud and Coldplay‘s Chris Martin.
