Billie Joe Armstrong teams with Morrissey for ‘Wedding Bell Blues’

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong appears as a guest vocalist on legendary British singer Morrissey‘s cover of the 5th Dimension‘s “Wedding Bell Blues,” the first official single from the former Smiths vocalist’s upcoming 60s/70s covers LP, California Son.

Armstrong and Morrissey are also joined by Lydia Night of the Regrettes on the track, which was penned by Laura Nyro and became a Number One hit for the 5th Dimension in 1969.

California Son also features covers of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Roy Orbison, Dionne WarwickCarly Simon and others, while additional guest artists include Grizzly Bear’s Ed DrostePetra Haden and Young The Giant’s Sameer Gadhia. The disc is out May 24th.

Green Day kept a low profile for much of last year, although Armstrong hinted to fans on Instagram in December that he was writing new songs. The group’s last LP was 2016’s Revolution Radio. The trio has authored a graphic novel titled Last Of The American Girls that’s out October 29th.
