AVENGED SEVENFOLD REISSUE MAKES ‘BILLBOARD’ TOP 10
It seems even an 11-year-old Avenged Sevenfold album can make the Billboard album chart's Top 10 these days. The special edition reissue of the group's second album, 2003's Waking The Fallen, sold around 22,000 copies in its first week of U.S. release to debut at Number 10 on Wednesday's (September 3rd) chart. While not a huge amount, it's still more than the 3,000 copies the record sold in its first week when it originally went on sale more than a decade ago.
Guitarist Zacky Vengeance told us why Waking The Fallen remains an important record for the band: "Even when we were at that point where we had very few fans, we never felt like a small band. We always felt like we had a big purpose, we felt that when we wrote the album Waking The Fallen, it was important. When we went back and listened to it, production-wise — and listening back to it now, it's really not the best-produced album — but at the time we were so involved with every aspect of it and we were so proud of it."
Waking The Fallen: Resurrected includes 23 tracks, including 11 never-before-heard songs, new artwork, and a 30-minute film featuring the present-day band.
Among the previously unheard tunes are two new songs, four never-before-heard demos and five rare live cuts.
The documentary features brand new interviews with the band, personal behind-the-scenes home movies and photos from the group's earliest days.
Avenged Sevenfold is touring in support of its 2013 album, Hail To The King, which debuted at Number One little over a year ago on the Billboard album chart.
