Arctic Monkeys have announced the opening of a series of pop-up shops located around the world. Six stores will open on Friday (May 11th), the release date of the group’s new album, while the rest will open the following weekend. Fans will be able to pick up “unique and limited album and merchandise items,” according to the group’s website. Shops will be located in the band’s hometown of Sheffield, as well as New York, Sydney, Paris, Berlin, and Tokyo.
The band is celebrating the arrival of its sixth studio album, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino.
Arctic Monkeys have not shared any singles ahead of the LP’s release, although they are playing three new songs live on their current short run of North American shows.
The British quartet will dip in and out of North America throughout the summer and fall, playing shows in June, July, early August and mid-October.
The new LP will follow up 2013’s AM, which was Arctic Monkeys’ fifth album and their biggest U.S. release to date. It featured the Modern Rock hit “Do I Wanna Know?”

SIDE NOTES: Guitarist Jamie Cook recently revealed his reaction to first hearing frontman Alex Turner’s initial demos for Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino. Cook told Rolling Stone, “I was blown away by the direction Alex had gone in. It took a few listens to even begin to, like . . . It was just, like, ‘S**t. What do we do with this?'”
