WHITE STRIPES FRONTMAN FAN-SHY

You'd think that selling millions of albums and headlining several nationwide tours would help White Stripes lead singer Jack White become comfortable with his fans. But as the Detroit-native told us, he's usually at a loss for words when he comes face-to-face with the public: "It's never comfortable for me 'cause I don't really know what to say, you know. I think Bob Dylan said once that just because you like my stuff, doesn't mean I owe you anything. It's hard, you know. It's hard to take a compliment, it's hard to express true -- sometimes people, you don't know where they're coming from, what the angle is, you know."

White is currently writing material for the follow up to the band's 2003 album, Elephant.

As of press time, the White Stripes have only two concerts scheduled for this summer, both in England.
