SLIPKNOT ISSUES NEW SINGLE; ALBUM TITLE AND RELEASE DATE REVEALED?
Slipknot has released "The Devil In I," the first official single from the band's upcoming fifth album. It follows "The Negative One," which was issued earlier this month. "The Devil In I" is more melodic and features cleaner vocals from frontman Corey Taylor, who told us what the song is about: "'The Devil In I' is really about the war inside yourself. Trying not to give into defeatism, trying not to give into negativity, trying not to give up basically. It's a struggle. It's one of the hardest thing you can do, is to give in to that side of yourself."
Meanwhile, Bloody Disgusting has reported that the album's title and release date have been posted at iTunes, with the record called .5: The Gray Chapter and set for release on October 21st. The iTunes page features the cover art and lists 14 tracks for the record plus two bonus cuts, including "Sarcastrophe," "Killpop," "The One Who Kills The Least," "Be Prepared For Hell," "Nomadic," "Lech" and more.
The title seems to be a reference to bassist Paul Gray, who died in May 2010. The new disc is the band's first since his death.
Yet to be revealed is the identity of the band's new drummer. Founding drummer Joey Jordison was shown the door in December 2013.
The last Slipknot disc, All Hope Is Gone, came out in 2008.
The second edition of Slipknot's Knotfest event will take place on October 24th, 25th and 26th in San Bernardino, California. More than two dozen acts will join the headliners, including Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Of Mice And Men, In This Moment, Hellyeah, Atreyu and many others.
