RISE AGAINST LEADS LINEUP OF NEW PROTEST SONG COMPILATION

Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath leads the lineup of a new collection of protest songs called This Concerns Everyone, which is being released by A-F Records on November 18th. The set includes both studio and live recordings from a number of alternative artists, including Tom Morello and members of Saves The Day, Anti-Flag, Hot Water Music and more.

McIlrath told us that Rise Against has always tried to find the right mix of message and music: "It's a delicate balance, that's for sure. When you take on a cause or you want to communicate how you feel about something -- especially something controversial -- you're walking a fine line between like bringing about some awareness or shoving something down someone's throat. I guess we've kind of led by example in a lot of ways and presented it as something that, you know, we feel strongly about, and if you also feel strongly about it, then we want to let you know that you're not alone."

Each song on the album is recorded by the artist in one take with just one instrument.

Anti-Flag's Chris #2, who spearheaded the project, said, "You don’t need a band or a studio or record label or anything but yourself and a song."

A portion of the proceeds will aid the Right to Heal Campaign, which is a joint effort between The Iraq Veterans Against The War, Organization of Women’s Freedom In Iraq and the Federation of Workers Councils and Unions In Iraq.

Rise Against will kick off a North American tour on August 31st at the Made In America Festival in Los Angeles, in support of the band's new album The Black Market.
