Pearl Jam has officially announced the details of its upcoming concert documentary, Let's Play Two. As previously rumored, the film was shot during the band's two-night stand at Wrigley Field in Chicago on August 20th and 22nd, in the midst of the Chicago Cubs' historic bid to win a World Series championship after a 108-year drought. Let's Play Two is directed by renowned director and photographer Danny Clinch and will be accompanied by a live soundtrack album.

With Chicago also being singer Eddie Vedder's hometown and the vocalist being a lifelong Cubs fan, the film not only captures the band's live show and massive catalog of songs, but also the relationship between the group, the Cubs themselves and the fans of both.

  • Clinch said, "I love to explore the relationship between a band, their fans and the location. When it happens that the main characters of your film are Pearl Jam, the Chicago Cubs, their fans, and Wrigley Field during a historic moment, you know it's going to be epic."
  • Guitarist Mike McCready explained a while back why he thinks Pearl Jam stays one of rock's most consistent live acts: "The sure-fire thing is just a confidence in our band, and I know that we've done that before and we'll do it again, because we are a really good, tight live band. And a lot of that is non-spoken because we've played together for so long. It's an interesting thing. I don't know if there's a sure-fire way of doing it, but I think we hit it pretty well most times we do it."
  • Pearl Jam's Ten Club fan organization will host special members-only screenings of Let's Play Two at the Metro in Chicago on Wednesday, September 27th and Thursday, September 28th before the film rolls out for a week-long engagement in selected markets around the world.
  • There will also be special one-night-only theatrical events beginning on October 3rd.
  • The soundtrack will be released on September 29th, the same day as the movie, with the film then arriving on home video on November 17th. The film will premiere on U.S. television on Friday, October 13th via Fox Sports following Game One of the American League Championship Series.
