JACK WHITE JAMS WITH DEAD WEATHER AT MASSIVE HOMETOWN GIG
Jack White played a three-hour, 38-song homecoming show in Detroit last Wednesday night (July 30th), where he was joined onstage at one point by singer Alison Mosshart and guitarist Dean Fertita of his band The Dead Weather for a run through the group's "I Cut Like A Buffalo." According to Rolling Stone, Mosshart and White shared vocal duties on the song. White reportedly played another Dead Weather track, "Blue Blood Blues," during the encore without his bandmates.
The rest of White's epic set list spanned his entire career, including plenty of tracks from the White Stripes and both his solo albums, as well as a brief snippet of Led Zeppelin's "Lemon Song" and a cover of Beck's "Devil's Haircut."
White played at Detroit's Masonic Temple, which he allegedly saved from foreclosure last year by paying off its reported $142,000 (£92,798) in back taxes so it could stay open. The venue then renamed its 1,586-capacity Cathedral Theater as the Jack White Theater in his honor.
White is touring in support of his second solo album, Lazaretto, and next plays in Kansas City on August 18th.
