#SPORTS! #MLB has decided that the Atlanta Braves will forfeit 12 prospects as part of their punishment for circumventing rules. Don’t forget to head to 1057thepoint.com/picks & make your #NFL picks for this week. Crazy night at Scottrade Center AND MORE!

Crazy night at the Scottrade Center last night where the Blues DESTROYED the Edmonton Oilers 8-3.  Scoring for the Blues were Dmitrij Jaksin, Jaden Schwartz, Scottie Upshall, Paul Stastny, and both Vladi Tarasenko and Brayden Schenn scored twice.  It was Schwartz’s 100th NHL goal.  Also – Tarasenko picked up his first ever Gordie Howe hat-trick with the goal, assist, and a fight.  A fight in which he gave it to Matt Benning after Benning had an almost knee-on-knee hit with Brayden Schenn.  Speaking of Tarasenko and Schenn….their line…joined by Schwartz….had a total of 12 points last night.  The Blues are back in action on Friday…they take on the Nashville Predators at 7PM at Scottrade.

We keep talking about Mizzou and how they are winning but people are still waiting to see Michael Porter Jr – one of if not THE top prospect – take the court.  Well, it’s gonna be a while.  Yesterday, Mizzou announced that Porter Jr. will have back surgery and probably will be done for the entire year.  Now, here is the weird thing, technically he could enter the draft next year…however…he made a post on Instagram that made it seem like he would be returning to Mizzou and play next year as a Tiger.  We’ll see.

Don’t forget to head to 1057thepoint.com/picks and make your picks for this week in the NFL.  There are games tomorrow during the day so pick before then.  The Vikings head to Detroit to take on the Lions…the Cowboys host the Chargers…and the Redskins welcome in the Giants.  All your picks can be made at 1057thepoint.com/picks.

Olympic champion gymnast Gabby Douglas said yesterday (November 21st) that she was one of the athletes who were sexually abused by former Team USA doctor Larry Nassar. Douglas, the 2012 Olympic all-around champion and a three-time gold medalist, wrote on Instagram that she waited so long to speak out because she was part of a group, quote, "conditioned to stay silent." The 21-year-old Douglas revealed the abuse in an apology she posted for suggesting last week that women dress modestly to help prevent abuse. She said her comments had been taken out of context, stating, "I didn’t view my comments as victim shaming because I know no matter what you wear, it NEVER gives anyone the right to harass or abuse you." Nassar spent nearly two decades as the national team doctor for USA Gymnastics before being fired in 2015. Other high-profile gymnasts who've alleged abuse by him include Olympic gold medalists Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney, who were teammates of Douglas. Nasser is expected to plead guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault and face at least 25 years in prison, AP reported. A court hearing for him is set for today.

Major League Baseball has decided that the Atlanta Braves will forfeit 12 prospects as part of their punishment for circumventing rules regarding the limits on what teams can spend to sign international prospects. Most notable among the lost players—who will immediately become free agents—is 17-year-old shortshop Kevin Maitan, who was Baseball America’s No. 1 international prospect in 2016. A hard, low limit is set on how much MLB teams can spend on these international signings, usually around $4 to $6 million per year for an entire class (though teams can acquire more money from other teams through trades). Obviously, this is a cruel and unfair way to take money away from young athletes who need it and give it to owners who don’t, and there’s nothing truly unethical about the Braves sneaking some too-high signing bonuses through the system.  Also in relation to this…ex-GM John Coppolella has been banned from Major League Baseball for LIFE after his unconventional signings from 2015-2017
