#SPORTS! The first American woman to win the New York City Marathon in 40 years. MLB Awards. The Cardinals have named some roster moves AND MORE

Early game tonight for the Blues as they are in New Jersey to take on the Devils.  Blues are coming off of a 6-4 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.  Tonight, puck drops at 6PM and the game is on Fox Sports Midwest.

The Cardinals have named some roster moves.  The team has announced the unconditional release of Trevor Rosenthal.  Rosenthal is actually recovering from elbow surgery, and is now looking for a new home.  Couple options with Rosenthal, he could be done with the team, or come back under a new contract structure which could be a minor league contract…Also the Cards have given Lance Lynn a qualifying offer.  Lynn has already said he plans to reject the offer and test the free-agent market so we will see what happens there.

Other good news for the Cardinals…Paul DeJong is among the nominees for NL Rookie of the Year.   Dodgers 1B Cody Bellinger is the front-runner, but DeJong is the first Cardinal to receive the honor since Kolten Wong in 2014 and Albert Pujols in 2001.  Pirates 1B Josh Bell was also given the nomination.  DeJong had 25 homers, ranked first in the NL among rookies in doubles, second in slugging, and fourth in homers, RBI, and hits.

As far as the rest of the MLB awards.  As far as AL MVP….you have Aaron Judge from the Yankees, Jose Altuve for the Astros and Jose Ramirez from the Indians.  Analysts say that Altuve is the favorite.  NL MVP will be either Paul Goldschmidt from the Diamondbacks, Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins, or Joey Votto from the Reds.  Analysts say there is no clear favorite here.  NL Cy Young has Kershaw from the Dodgers, and then the duo of Strasberg and Scherzer from the Nationals.  STL’s own Max Scherzer is the favorite.  Over in the AL…the Cy Young is between Luis Severino of the Yankees, Chris Sale from the Red Sox, and Corey Kluber of the Indians.  Looks like it’s between Sale and Kluber here.  And finally..the AL rookie of the year is between Trey Mancini of the Orioles, Andrew Benintendi from the Red Sox, and Aaron Judge from the Yankees.  No doubt about it…it goes to Judge.

The Green Bay Packers fell 30-17 to the Detroit Lions in Monday night’s football game. It was the third straight loss for the Packers. Their luck turned bad when Aaron Rogers hurt his collarbone on Oct. 15 at Minnesota.  Which means….with 47 total points…I (Patrico) will be getting shot today.  And all because of a pass interference call with 0:01 second left on the game clock which led to a 1 yard touchdown run and the final score of the game.

Shalane Flanagan became the first American woman to win the New York City Marathon in 40 years on Sunday, beating Kenyan Mary Keitany's attempt to finish first in the race for the fourth year in a row. Flanagan finished in two hours, 26 minutes and 53 seconds, about a minute faster than Keitany. The last American woman to win the New York Marathon was Miki Gorman in 1977. On the men's side, Geoffrey Kamworor of Kenya won the race in two hours, 10 minutes and 53 seconds. It was the last career race for 42-year-old American great Meb Keflezighi, a 2000 New York Marathon winner, who finished 11th on Sunday and collapsed when he crossed the finish line.
