Driver crashes into Circle K, apprehended with meth, $165 worth of stolen snacks
A hit and run at a Circle K on Navarre Parkway in Santa Rosa County on Saturday morning ended in a drug bust.
Robert Shane Moore, 33, of Cleveland, Mississippi, hit a wood box outside the store, pushing it into the glass windows of the store just after 6 a.m. Saturday. He then fled the scene and was later apprehended, according to a Florida Highway Patrol release.
Moore admitted to causing the crash and consented to a search of his 2015 Chevy Malibu. The search revealed several boxes of Tastykakes and Honey Buns packages worth $165, and numerous pieces of personal mail with credit cards and checks. Also discovered were two bags of methamphetamine, one Xanax bar and a syringe.
The snack items retrieved were not believed to be from the Circle K, a representative of the store said.
Moore was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, dealing with stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
Lauren Nicole Moody, 24, of Boyle, Mississippi, was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office and U.S. Postal Inspector General are conducting their own investigations of the incident.
