#CrapOnCelebrities: Much more on the firing of Matt Lauer, 2 people want Manson’s dead body and Instagram’s most liked photos of the year.
NBC fired MATT LAUER yesterday, after a female colleague accused him of inappropriate sexual conduct during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. And she said his behavior continued in the workplace after the games. This happened FAST. The woman only reported Matt on Monday night, but in a memo to staff, NBC News said quote, "We were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident." They also said these were the first allegations against Lauer in the more than 20 years he's been with NBC and the "Today" show. But later in the day, the floodgates opened. Two more women came forward with complaints. One of them said Matt called her to his office in 2001 and had sex with her, and she was afraid to resist because she thought she might lose her job. And "Variety" posted the results of a two-month investigation into Matt's behavior, alleging multiple incidents over the years. They say Matt once gave a woman a sex toy, along with an explicit note on how he wanted to use it on her . . . and exposed himself to another woman, then reprimanded her when she refused to engage in a sexual act. He would also ask female producers who they'd slept with, and offer to trade names with them . . . and he would make people play "Marry, [Eff], or Kill" with him. There were also consensual relationships, but he purposely chose people he had power over, to ensure they wouldn't complain. Several women told "Variety" they complained to NBC, but nothing was done. One former employee said Matt's behavior was known, but he was well-protected. However, NBC told CNN that no CURRENT member of NBC News management was ever made aware of his alleged misconduct. One more detail: Matt had a button at his desk he could use to lock his office door. Matt has been married to his second wife Annette since 1998. They have three kids. She filed for divorce in 2006, citing cruel and inhumane treatment, but they reconciled. Matt makes around $20 million a year on the "Today" show. He's under contract through next year, but there's no word if NBC is still paying him.
Kathie Lee Gifford had an interesting response to the news about Matt Lauer . . . it almost sounded like she wants to let him off the hook.
And someone dug up this clip of Katie Couric on "Watch What Happens Live" back in 2012.
An old behind-the-scenes clip just came out of Matt Lauer harassing Meredith Vieira on the "Today" set. She bends over to pick up some papers off a table, and he makes a creepy comment.
GERALDO RIVERA was quick to defend MATT LAUER yesterday. Rivera was accused of sexual assault prob 25 years ago by Bette Midler btw. So tweets that Lauer is a great guy and "News is a flirty business & it seems like current epidemic of #SexHarassmentAllegations may be criminalizing courtship. Fox News said it was "troubled" by Geraldo's comments, and was addressing them with him. A little while later, he apologized.
Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!
Old school comedian GARRISON KEILLOR was fired by Minnesota Public Radio for alleged inappropriate behavior with a female co-worker. You'd know him as the former host of "A Prairie Home Companion". Keillor says he went to pat the woman on the back to console her, his hand went a few inches up her shirt, he apologized, and she accepted. And he didn't hear anything more about it until her lawyer called him. Garrison is 75.
Vanity Fair says OL Simpson is living rent-free in a $5 million Vegas mansion owned by a supporter who says OJ didn’t do it. Some of Simpson’s neighbors aren’t too thrilled about him living there, when he goes out to his favorite bar, The Grape Street Cafe, for a lone martini because he can’t get legally drunk, he’s often mobbed by fans. Simpson’s associates say he’s gotten lucrative offers for reality shows and his first post-prison interview, with one potential investor offering to pay off the multimillion-dollar civil judgment he still owes the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown.
It's now been 11 days since Manson died, and if no one claims the body the Sheriff's Department would have to cremate his remains. Well, that's on hold until a ruling from the court because 2 people who come forward saying they want him. Jason Freeman -- who claims to be Manson's legit grandson -- has contacted the Sheriff to say he wants Manson's body. The other candidate is Michael Channels, who was Manson's longtime pen pal. Channels has one thing in his favor ... Manson's will. Manson left everything to Channels. He's the executor -- and he's filed it in probate court. Even though Freeman might be Manson's grandkid -- he claims he's taken a DNA test -- he'd still have to contest the will in court to get a shot at the body.
We got food trucks here in the Midwest. We have clothing and merchandise trucks here too. How about a make up truck? Kylie Jenner seems to think tis a good idea. Not here but in her world. Kylie's filed to trademark a Kylie Truck, and a Kylie Jenner Truck. She wants to roll through neighborhoods serving up lip kits, merch and other Kylie themed gift items. It’s a food truck but with her stuff in it. Don’t be expecting her to be behind the wheel or anywhere in the thing after prob a first day photo op.
In a year packed with pretty heavy, depressing news, here's a somewhat interesting distraction for you: Instagram has released a list of the most-liked photos of the year. Unfortunately the Top 10 is dominated by the same three people
Here's the Top 10:
1. Beyoncé's post announcing she was pregnant with twins . . . 11.2 million likes
2. Cristiano Ronaldo with his new daughter . . . 11 million
3. Selena Gomez revealing that she had a kidney transplant . . . 10.3 million
4. Beyoncé's first photo with her twins . . . 10.27 million
5. Cristiano Ronaldo holding his new TWINS . . . 8.3 million. These are the babies he had from a surrogate in June, BEFORE the other daughter was born.
6. The Weeknd embracing his then-girl Selena Gomez . . . 8.1 million
7. The Weeknd and Selena making their 'red carpet debut' . . . 7.8 million
8. Cristiano Ronaldo hanging with his family . . . 7.3 million likes. This guy is a big deal, especially with soccer fans, but this is just a random family photo. Oh, wait . . . Cristiano is wearing some VERY short shorts. Well, maybe that explains it.
9. Selena showing off some skin during a photo shoot on a bike . . . 7.2 million
10. Selena celebrating her 25th birthday. She has two birthday cakes, and for some reason she's sitting ON the table next to them . . . 7.1 million
If this list seems a little bland and repetitive, that's because Selena and Cristiano have the benefit of having the first- and second-most Instagram followers. Beyoncé is fourth . . . behind donut-licker Ariana Grande, who's third. The only other people with over 100 million followers are Kim Kardashian, who has the fifth-most, and Taylor Swift, who's in sixth
The first trailer for Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War" debuted during "Good Morning America" yesterday. It’s on the blog. It's over two minutes long, and it features virtually EVERY major superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Guardians of the Galaxy . . . although you don't see them until the very end. It includes Black Panther fighting a four-armed alien, Spider-Man in an armored costume, wounded Thor being rescued by the Guardians. And just to underscore how big this is, the trailer racked up more than 38 million views in its FIRST DAY online. The movie is in theaters on May 4th. It's the third "Avengers" movie . . . and the 19th movie since Marvel launched the series with "Iron Man" in 2008. The fourth "Avengers" movie is coming out in 2019.
A California woman claims a man living in L.A. "leveraged his power" over her while she worked for him, raped her ... and exposed her to HIV, Apparently the man is a big celebrity. She is suing a man listed as David Doe for sexual battery and assault. She says she worked as a part-time personal assistant for the man. She says she was a vulnerable single mother and he mistreated her both physically and sexually. She claims the man made her engage in unwanted rough sex, ignored her requests to stop, and belittled her by laughing at her protestations and spitting on her. According to what I read the man refused to use protection and exposed her to HIV because one of his recent sexual partners allegedly tested positive. She even says he told her she should get tested. The woman's suing for unspecified damages.
The paparazzi spotted MARK HAMILL at JFK Airport in New York, but he didn't look so good. He was in a wheelchair, with a black hat pulled over his eyes. A few people recognized him, but he wouldn't talk to anyone. But don't worry . . . Mark is fine. He Tweeted, quote, "HA! Arriving 5 A.M. I tried the old "wheelchair trick" JUST to avoid autograph $alesmen / Dealer$ . . . who constantly badger me (& my family) to increase value of their items . . . All the better to gouge TRUE FANS later on Ebay."
There's something about famous people and Waffle House. Actor Donnie Wahlberg — brother of better-known Mark — was in town Saturday with his son to watch the Celtics play the Pacers. After the Celtics win, they decided to go to the Waffle House on Lynhurst Drive. Kassandra Rhea was Wahlberg's server that night. She didn't recognize him until another family she was serving told her who he was. She said he was "extremely sweet" and "very down to earth" while he was there and he tipped $1,000 after his meal — $600 for her, $200 for the cook and another $200 for another server. He even paid for the meals of the family who pointed him out to Rhea. Rhea said the money will go toward her future purchase of a new car and rent.
